President Donald Trump said Thursday that billionaire Elon Musk’s stint as head of the Department of Government Efficiency will wrap at the end of the week – but hinted it may not be a real goodbye

“I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office,Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way.”

“Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House,” the president added.

Trump’s post on Thursday confirmed reports that Musk would depart from his U.S. government role, while appearing to leave the door open for his continued influence in the MAGA administration.

Musk was appointed by Trump to lead efforts to slash federal spending, but reports suggested the billionaire Tesla owner has little to show for his controversial time in Washington as he prepares his exit less than five months into the administration.

The public showing of support from Trump comes as Musk publicly broke with the president over his signature spending bill.
