CNN's Kasie Hunt on Wednesday visibly cringed after watching footage of former President Donald Trump's victory speech in New Hampshire.
The clip in question revolved around Trump telling Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) that he "must really hate" fellow South Carolina Republican Nikki Haley to not endorse her presidential bid despite the fact that Haley was the governor who appointed Scott as senator in 2013.
Scott quickly ran up to the microphone to say that he didn't hate Haley, he just loved Trump.
A cringing Hunt then explained to CNN viewers how the awkward exchange at Trump's speech mirrored similar humiliating moments from other Republican politicians who would come to regret showing total fealty to the former president.

"You also saw him be put in the position that Donald Trump puts everyone that comes around, comes to heel, really, and stands behind him in this position," she explained. "How many politicians have we seen basically humble themselves in that position in a camera frame behind Donald Trump? I mean, we saw Chris Christie in that position, it's an image that came back to haunt him. Mike Pence spent four years doing it only to be met with chants of 'Hang Mike Pence' during the insurrection on January 6th. So this is a pretty classic situation for one of these people."
Hunt suggested that Scott was willing to endure such embarrassments in the hope that Trump would pick him to be his vice president, but then added that it's "potentially it's a difficult place to be, considering what happened to Mike Pence."
