CNN's Errol Louis on Wednesday said that New York Judge Arthur Engoron delivered a devastating blow to former President Donald Trump when he found him liable for committing fraud.
Louis argued that Judge Engoron's ruling was particularly notable because he slammed Trump and his lawyers for recycling arguments that had already been previously rejected as irrelevant.
"It is absolutely scathing," he said. "[Engoron is] sort of saying you cannot, you should not, you must not continue to raise these immaterial defenses when I've already told you that we're not going to hear those defenses, when it's already gone up on appeal so that it's almost fully litigated!"

Louis went on to argue that the ruling shows that Engoron appears to be wise to Trump's traditional legal tactics.
"It says something about Trump's tactics in trying to just delay, just try to spin it out, bring up the same issues again and again and again," he said. "The judge is really not having it."
In less than a year, Trump has not only been found liable for business fraud, but has also been found liable for defaming and sexually abusing journalist E. Jean Carroll and has also been indicted in four separate jurisdictions for alleged crimes ranging from unlawfully retaining top-secret government documents to defrauding the United States by trying to illegally remain in power after losing the 2020 election.
