Former President Donald Trump claimed to have "shocking breaking news" to reveal on his Truth Social platform -- but it turned out to be just another pile of misinformation.

Writing on the platform, the former president claimed that "as exposed by the Great John Solomon, a REAL Journalist who cares about the TRUTH, and the GREAT work of Congressman Barry Loudermilk and Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, the Deep State chose to disregard my direct authorization of at least 10,000 National Guard Troops to ensure that Washington, D.C., was safe and secure on January 6, 2021. These Deep State subversives disobeyed the President’s directives, which would have prevented any unrest that day - January 6th, as it is known, would never have taken place."

Trump went on to claim that "these revelations END the Sham J6 Civil Hoaxes and the lawless D.C. Case brought by Deranged Jack Smith, which has already been demolished by the United States Supreme Court’s Historic Immunity and Fischer Decisions."

"I called for everyone to act PEACEFULLY and PATRIOTICALLY, and demanded that D.C. be PROTECTED. The Deep State, and Crazy Nancy Pelosi, who admitted to her daughter on videotape that she was 'responsible,' have to be held to account, including for the damages, wasted resources, and time spent defending the Witch Hunts and Hoaxes," he added. "We have to SAVE our broken Justice System!"

In fact, investigations have shown that this is not true.

The bipartisan House Select Committee investigating the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building found that it was Vice President Mike Pence, and not Trump, who tried to order the National Guard to deploy to the Capitol to quell the violence.

"Not only did President Trump refuse to tell the mob to leave the Capitol, he placed no call to any element of the United States government to instruct that the Capitol be defended," Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) revealed in a 2022 hearing.

Additionally, Solomon's reputation as a journalist is highly questionable given his role in helping former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani run a smear campaign against former American ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

The Hill, Solomon's former publisher, did a review of his opinion columns about Yovanovitch and determined that he had failed to adhere to basic journalistic ethics in his writing.

“In certain columns, Solomon failed to identify important details about key Ukrainian sources, including the fact that they had been indicted or were under investigation," the Hill's editors wrote of Solomon. "In other cases, the sources were his own attorneys."
