WASHINGTON — Donald Trump left his Bedminster golf course Sunday evening and flew to Virginia without warning, leading to wild speculation about why the former president would be coming back to the Washington, D.C. area.

Curiosities swirled about a possible medical emergency, to being indicted, to Republicans saying that he was flying in his golf gear to be reinstated to the presidency after being voted out in 2020.

Monday morning, Trump posted on his social media site that he was "working" from his Virginia country club, which he promoted as an "incredible place."

Photos and videos taken from outside of the club show Trump traversing the golf course in a cart and chatting with others, but he didn't have any clubs with him and he wasn't playing. It has been raining in the area off and on for over 24 hours and it's expected to continue throughout the week.

Trump arrived at the Virginia club on the heels of videos being released showing Trump aides carrying what appeared to be document boxes to the private plane headed for Bedminster earlier in the summer.

It's been alleged that Devin Nunes, Kevin McCarthy, Sean Hannity, Eric Trump, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) accompanied Trump. However, there is no serious evidence to support this claim.

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer of Trump, said that he heard from those inside Trump world that the former president wanted to speak with his lawyers but didn't trust their offices. That presumably extends to phones and video chats.
