In the second half of her Wednesday show, MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace addressed Russia's use of those close to President Donald Trump to meddle with another American election.

People like Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Rudy Giuliani were all part of an effort to spread misinformation crafted by Russian intelligence officials during the 2020 election campaign. Wallace showed clips of the lies from the men that match lies revealed after a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence was declassified.

"It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic," said Wallace. "The fact their words echo Russian disinformation to hurt Joe Biden established beyond any doubt by the reports yesterday, the only remaining question is around witting or unwitting acts. The term 'useful idiots' can be slapped on them and was by Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney last hour, but that feels unfair to idiots."

She went on to recall testimony early on in the Trump administration from former US Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who was removed from her position with claims she refused to participate in creating a fake scandal about Biden.

"I was shocked and devastated that I would feature in such a phone call that President Trump would say I was bad news to another world leader and I would be going through some things," she told Congress Nov. 2019. "It was a terrible moment. A person who saw me actually reading the transcript said that the color drained from my face."

Wallace explained that Yovanovitch became part of a smear campaign that Rudy Giuliani crafted with Trump as Russian disinformation was beginning to spread.

In an interview with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Tuesday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow asked about Trump allies who may have been approached and told that the sources they were working with on anti-Biden conspiracy theories were active Russian agents.
