'A multitude of ways' exist to stop Trump from becoming president again: legal expert

According to former prosecutor Shan Wu, there are multiple avenues to either make Donald Trump ineligible to run for president again or keep him off the ballot at the state level.

In his column for the Daily Beast, Wu made his case that the former president is already ineligible to run under the "Disqualification Clause" found in the U.S. Constitution, adding that the standard required to be banned fits Trump "like a glove."

DeSantis busted by Florida paper over 'horrific' abortion debate tale

On Saturday morning the Miami Herald called out Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for a story he told during Wednesday's Republican Party debate about an abortion where he got the facts entirely wrong in order to make his anti-choice point.

At issue was a tale about a woman he called "Penny" who survived an abortion.

The Florida governor told a national TV audience, "I know a lady in Florida named Penny. She survived multiple abortion attempts. She was left discarded in a pan. Fortunately, her grandmother saved her and brought her to another hospital.”

According to the Herald, DeSantis got the story wrong even down to the woman's name.

'Pretenders to the throne': Trump mocks GOP rivals for low debate ratings

Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Friday to mock his GOP rivals over the ratings for the first Republican presidential primary debate, hosted by Fox News in Milwaukee.

"The Debate on FoxNews had a hard time with the proverbial RATINGS," wrote Trump, who declined to attend the debate. "It was one of the lowest rated EVER, if not THE LOWEST. It showed that many of those participating are 'second tier' and merely 'pretenders to the throne.' Some of the answers were sooo bad, with delivery even worse."

'As biased as possible': Ohio Republicans trying to 'rig' November ballot proposals

Although President Barack Obama carried Ohio in both 2008 and 2012, the Buckeye State has since been a frequent source of frustration for Democrats. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) was reelected in 2018, yet Ohio has been trending Republican in recent years.

One of the ways Ohio Democrats have been fighting back is via ballot measure proposals. But according to Talking Points Memo's Kate Riga, Republicans have been looking for ways to "rig" November's ballot measures on everything from recreational marijuana use to abortion to redistricting.

How Trump is using one of his own GOP opponents in 2024 race: Conservative

Donald Trump's dominance over the GOP field is so strong that he has successfully created a subsidiary candidate, according to a conservative writer on Friday.

Rich Lowry of the National Review noted that "every vote" that entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy "gets is denied to some other non-Trump contender who might be a more serious threat to the former president." Trump reportedly uses that to his advantage.

Untangling Ron DeSantis’ debate anecdote about an improbable abortion survival story

When the topic of abortion came up during the first Republican primary presidential debate this week, Florida Gov. Doctors tried to abort ‘Penny’ multiple times and discarded her in a pan,...

Trump's DOJ 'weaponization' complaints are falling flat – and they're coming back to haunt him: analysis

According to an analysis of a new Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll, "dubious" claims that every Donald Trump indictment results in a boost in his re-election prospects are not borne out by the numbers -- and, in fact, support for the embattled ex-president is in a slow-motion free fall.

Writing for Politico, former federal prosecutor Ankush Khardori stated Trump's key defense against his four indictments is falling flat on its face with voters who aren't part of his rabid MAGA base.

As Khardori explained, any chance the former president has of returning to the Oval Office would require him to appeal to independents and undecideds and a growing number instead believe he belongs in jail.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

"The survey results suggest Americans are taking the cases seriously — particularly the Justice Department’s 2020 election case — and that most people are skeptical of Trump’s claim to be the victim of a legally baseless witch hunt or an elaborate, multi-jurisdictional effort to 'weaponize' law enforcement authorities against him," he wrote.

'Wouldn't know what hit him': Trump's new favorite is warned to be wary of ex-president's wrath

If debates were won based on interruptions and bombastic declarations, Vivek Ramaswamy would be Wednesday night's victor, the Daily Beast said on Friday. Adopting favorite tactics used by Donald Trump, coupled with open expressions of admiration, earned him praise from the leading Republican presidential candidate, who was himself absent during the Wednesday event.

“President Trump, I believe, was the best president of the 21st century,” Ramaswamy said during the debate.
