Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick seemed to admit that he was selling United States citizenship to rich friends over dinner.

The official revealed the potential transactions during a Wednesday cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump.

"It's unbelievable," he said. "We've got so much, as I travel around, the attention on the Trump gold card. I mean, it makes me very popular. Last night, I was out to dinner and someone came up and said, 'Can I buy 10? And how do I buy 10?'"

"I'm like, it's pretty good," he added. "It's 50 million dollars for dinner. So, you know, it's paying for my dinner."

Lutnick was accused of corruption following the remarks.

"They are selling citizenship to rich friends and getting bribes," podcaster Fred Wellman wrote on X.
