On Tuesday, SFist reported that the San Francisco Republican Party has canceled an appearance by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) at their upcoming "Lincoln-Reagan Dinner".
"Greene's chief of staff allegedly told the SFGOP that she can't come to SF because she'll be too busy voting against the Biden spending bill or infrastructure package, which might be held up until late in the week. And, this person said, 'MTG would like to work out a later date,'" reported Jay Barmann. "But a source close to the SF Republicans tells Stuart that there was "intense backlash" among members about the invitation given to Greene, and there was also the issue that the ticketing site they used, Anedot, yanked the event for some reason."
According to the report, Republicans who bought tickets to the event are being offered refunds.
Greene has become one of the most controversial members of Congress since her election in 2020. She has promoted QAnon conspiracy theories, endorsed social media posts calling for the killing of Democrats, and compared COVID-19 health measures to the Holocaust.
