Shaye Moss nimbly sidestepped a slew of oratory traps laid by Rudy Giuliani’s lawyer in her $43 million defamation case Tuesday, according to a reporter in the courtroom.
When Joe Sibley tried to argue the Trump campaign and far-right conspiracy sites were to blame for racist threats the Georgia poll worker received after Giuliani baselessly accused her of election fraud, Moss had a reply ready in waiting, reports Politico’s Kyle Cheney.
"Mr. Giuliani was just driving the bus,” Moss reportedly told Sibley, “and they were helping spread his lies."
Sibley himself admitted he came to the cross-examination at a disadvantage, namely that Giuliani — already ruled liable for defamation — may have defamed Moss again Monday night outside the Washington D.C. civil court.
"My client, as you saw last night, likes to talk a lot, unfortunately,” Sibley reportedly said.
Sibley then tried to corner Moss on alleged transparency issues raised over the Fulton County ballot-count in November 2020, noting, “There was a suggestion that people who wanted to observe [vote counting] were excluded.”
Retorted Moss, "I recall those lies."

When Sibley hinted avarice was to blame for the large amount of damages demanded — which he likened Monday to the civil court version of the death penalty — Moss once again had an answer ready.
“By hitting someone in the pockets, especially someone whose whole career is about their pockets, that will leave an impression about the next person who tries to spew lies about the next election worker,” Moss reportedly said.
“Why don’t you have enough money to repair your reputation?” Sibley then asked.
“Because your client is still lying on me and ruining my reputation further,” Moss replied. Then she posed a question to Sibley: “How could you work in law if everyone is saying you’re a horrible lawyer?”
Said Sibley, “You’d be surprised, actually.”
