Dire warnings as COVID Delta variant runs rampant in unvaccinated Missouri

First detected in India and now present in at least 80 countries across the globe, the ultra-contagious Delta variant of Covid-19 is now running rampant through communities in the United States, with the most devastating impacts occurring in areas with low vaccination rates.

Missouri—where less than half of the population over the age of 18 has been fully inoculated—has emerged as the U.S. hot spot for the Delta strain, which officials say is fueling the alarming surge in coronavirus infections and hospitalizations that the state has experienced in recent weeks even as cases decline in the U.S. as a whole. Missouri currently has the highest rate of new Covid-19 infections in the country.

On Thursday, SFGate reported that the police department in Santa Rosa, California is investigating an incident in which an officer allegedly called mask-wearers "slaves" through a bullhorn at a popular shopping center.

"As first reported by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, a 21-year-old woman posted a TikTok on Monday recounting an alleged incident she had just witnessed at the Santa Rosa Marketplace — which houses a Target, Costco, Trader Joe's and other large retailers," reported Joshua Bote. "She told the paper that she heard someone say, 'Take off your masks, don't be slaves,' through a bullhorn while she was grabbing bagels at the shopping center. Other people at the nearby Menchie's Frozen Yogurt shop were shouting similar remarks, she said. (She also noted that the cop was wearing a mask, despite railing against them publicly.)"

Trump was likely contagious, posed risk to staff when he defiantly removed mask after COVID hospitalization: report

When then-President Donald Trump triumphantly walked up the steps of the Truman Balcony upon his return to the White House from Walter Reed and removed his face mask in an act of defiance to proclaim his victory against his personal bout with COVID-19, he was "probably" still contagious and posed a risk to staffers awaiting him inside.

Facing the cameras from the balcony, he used his right hand to unhook the mask loop from his right ear, then raised his left hand to pull the mask off his face. He was heavily made up, his face more orange tinted than in the photos from the hospital. The helicopter's rotors were still spinning. He put the mask into his right pocket, as if he was discarding it once and for all, then raised both hands in a thumbs-up. He was still probably contagious, standing there for all the world to see. He made a military salute as the helicopter departed the South Lawn, and then strode into the White House, passing staffers on his way and failing to protect them from the virus particles emitted from his nose and mouth.
