More Mueller bombshells are coming for Trump: CNN panel explains Giuliani's collusion confession
On Thursday morning, the panel on CNN's New Day agreed that Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump's legal adviser, appeared on CNN late Wednesday and melted down because he is setting the stage for more bad news to come for the president.
During his CNN appearance, the frantic Giuliani blurted out that it was entirely possible that the president's campaign colluded with the Russian but insisted that the president was not aware of it -- a stunning admission after asserting for a long time that there was no collusion.
According to CNN's David Gregory, Giuliani's admission may have been calculated to get out in front of a big revelation coming from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
Asked by hosts John Berman and Alisyn Camerota what Giuliani hoped to accomplished, Gregory said it was a mystery, but the former New York City mayor has a history that may provide a clue.
"It's always a mystery with Rudy Giuliani because we don't know what he knows," Gregory offered. "He's in this role of this fighter for the president on TV -- his TV lawyer. But as we've been discussing this morning, so often he says something that raises eyebrows that makes you go what? Are you moving the goalposts here? And it's because something is about to come out."
"Does he know does he know something that's coming from the Mueller investigation, evidence that's been shared with him?" Gregory continued. "Or is he relying on the one thing that he thinks he has to do, which is to insulate the president from potential criminal behavior."
CNN analyst Nia-Malika Henderson jumped in to say that Giuliani has a knack for "foreshadowing" bad news before it is released to soften the blow for President Trump.
