NBC's national affairs analyst: Trump singled out conservative for being ‘a member of the Jewish faith’
On MSNBC's "Deadline: White House" on Monday, host Nicolle Wallace featured a conservative pundit who was singled out by President Donald Trump as a "loser" at a campaign rally following the most deadly attack on Jewish American's in the country's history.
Wallace played the clip of Trump's rally where he attacked Bill Kristol, editor-at-large for the conservative Weekly Standard magazine.
"I don't know what was in his mind," Kristol noted. "If I said something that particularly annoyed him, if that happened, that is fine with me."
"A couple of reporters called yesterday and I thought of witty insults and it is so inappropriate what he is doing at this moment that I prefer not to participate in exchanges of insults," he explained. "What is so unbelievable is he is having that rally ... the same day, as the murder of the 11 people at the synagogue in Pittsburgh -- a murder that's partly precipitated, I think, by the climate that he has encouraged."
NBC News national affairs analyst John Heileman offered a theory as to why Kristol was attacked.
"I don't think Bill did anything particular this week other than the fact that he is a member of the Jewish faith," he suggested.
