The View's Joy Behar snaps after Meghan McCain interrupts her twice to complain
"The View" co-host Joy Behar snapped at Meghan McCain for complaining that she'd drifted off topic.
The pair clashed in the opening segment on the Pittsburgh massacre, which Behar argued was justification for new gun laws, and McCain griped she hadn't known that topic would come up.
"I didn't think we were going to have a conversation about AR-15s but I'm happy to," McCain said. "I wanted to have a conversation about tolerance."
McCain objected again in the next segment, when Behar brought up coverage of President Donald Trump's rallies during a conversation on social media's responsibility for promoting violent conduct.
"The media should stop covering those rallies of his, that's my one recommendation," Behar said, as the audience cheered. "It just empowers him more."
McCain took a sarcastic jab at Behar, saying she hadn't answered host Whoopi Goldberg's segment-opening question about how much responsibility media companies should bear for a string of mail bombs allegedly sent by a Trump supporter.
"That seems like a logical response to that question," McCain said. "I mean, come on, we're talking about social media's impact and we jumped to Trump's rallies."
Behar apparently had enough of McCain interrupting her.
"I jump to wherever I damn please, okay?" Behar said, as the audience applauded. "That's twice."
McCain complained that Trump's rallies were off-topic, but Behar claimed a right to change the subject.
"I'm not allowed to change the subject if I want to?" she said.
"I just thought we were talking about social media," McCain said.
"You talk about it then," Behar said. "Go ahead."
