GOP donors warned that sticking with 'general election loser' Donald Trump 'will be expensive'

On Monday, writing for The Atlantic, former George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum outlined the dire situation the Republican Party finds itself in — and how leaders and donors are beginning to realize all the money they have invested in former President Donald Trump is only handing them losses.

"Five months ago, their party looked likely to take both the U.S. House and the Senate in 2022. Republicans appeared ready to consolidate their leads over Democrats in the numbers of governorships and state legislatures held. Best of all, they seemed to have quietly sidelined former President Donald Trump," wrote Frum. "Now their prospects look clouded."

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough pummeled Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for threatening "riots in the streets" if Donald Trump is indicted for taking classified documents to Mar-A-Lago and refusing to return them to the National Archives.

The FBI executed a lawful search warrant on the twice-impeached former president's private resort and seized boxes full of top-secret materials, and the "Morning Joe" host ripped Graham and other Republican lawmakers who went on TV over the weekend to defend Trump's actions -- and suggest that he be held above the law or else.

Former prosecutor fact-checks Trump's claims the search for docs was about the election

Former prosecutor Preet Bharara schooled a right-winger working for a fringe conservative group that launches FOIA lawsuits against Democrats. It is a talking point that is parrotted by Donald Trump, who had a rambling rant on his social media site claiming that the search warrant executed at Mar-a-Lago to recover stolen government documents was politically motivated.

The legal expert, who even tried to help Trump during the transition and immediately after he was elected, explained in a list why nothing in the Trump documents scandal has to do with the election.

With student loan forgiveness coming, Schumer calls on providers to staff up

With tens of millions of people becoming eligible for student loan forgiveness under President Joe Biden’s recently announced plan, loan providers nationwide need to staff up to handle the influx of paperwork, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said. He called on the companies to add “thousands” of staff to process loan forgiveness applications and answer questions. “We need our loan processors to get with it and inform students how to do this,” Schumer said at a Midtown Manhattan news conference, adding that loan providers are currently understaffed. “Right now, because of the overwhelming ...

'Trump gives aid and comfort to domestic terrorists': Legal expert gets darker than Biden's 'semi-fascist' claim

Speaking to MSNBC's Alicia Menendez on Sunday evening, "The Nation's" Elie Mystal and "Sisters in Law" co-host Joyce Vance had their own thoughts when it comes to the predicament in which former President Donald Trump is enthralled.

The Fox network has spent the day going after President Joe Biden for saying that the MAGA Republican is "semi-fascist," talking about their demand to pull books from schools and ban LGBTQ children from speaking to their teachers about their orientation. LGBTQ teachers in Florida have been banned from talking about their family if they're married to a same-sex or trans person. There are some states where types of birth control are being banned and others where pregnant women are forced to come to near death because abortions have been banned unless the pregnant person is dying.

AOC says Congress could reverse Trump tax cuts to cancel all Student debt

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday that Congress could reverse the 2017 GOP tax cuts, which overwhelmingly benefited the rich and large corporations, to finance the cancellation of all remaining student loan debt after President Joe Biden announced his more limited plan to wipe out $10,000 for most borrowers.

"We can keep pushing," the New York Democrat wrote in an email to supporters. "Remember that the Biden administration didn't want to do this at all. It was YOUR pushing, YOUR pressure, YOUR organizing that got them to this point. They have forgiven far, far more debt for business owners in the form of [Paycheck Protection Program loans] who didn't need to meet ANY sort of income requirements or means testing for almost $1 TRILLION in forgiveness."

Lauren Boebert has gone to a place of 'lesbian dance theory' in an attempt to slam Biden

In a recent appearance on Fox News, Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) weighed in on President Biden's student loan forgiveness plan and, in doing so, provided a quote that has caused ripples of discourse throughout the weekend.

"How the heck can Joe Biden call America-first conservatives a threat to Democracy with a straight face and a dry diaper? He's the one who has allowed millions to invade our southern border," Boebert said to Fox. "He's the one who is robbing hard-working Americans to pay for Karen's daughter's degree in lesbian dance theory."

Republican AGs scheme with dark money groups to sue over student debt relief

Republican attorneys general and corporate advocacy groups are exploring ways to sue the Biden administration over its newly announced plan to cancel $10,000 in federal student loan debt for most borrowers, hoping the conservative-packed U.S. judiciary will strike down the executive action and deny badly needed relief to around 40 million people.

"Conservative jurists, and ultimately the justices themselves, will be eager to shred the new program."

Trump's social media rants criticized by legal experts as 'threatening the country with violence'

Former President Donald Trump has spent the weekend on his social media site throwing any possible complaints out in an apparent hope of finding someone to blame for his legal conundrum.
