Biden smacks down racist comments from Mississippi senator claiming a Black judge couldn't be qualified

President Joe Biden went after Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) after racist comments alleging that a Black female justice couldn't possibly be qualified to be on the Supreme Court, the Washington Post cited.

“The irony is that the Supreme Court is at the very same time hearing cases about this sort of affirmative racial discrimination while adding someone who is the beneficiary of this sort of quota,” said Wicker, who represents a state with a strong Black population in his state. “The majority of the court may be saying writ large that it’s unconstitutional. We’ll see how that irony works out, will probably not get a single Republican vote."

Trump represents a 'big risk' for Republicans if they hand him the 2024 nomination: analyst

According to an analysis by the Washington Post's Dan Balz, the Republican Party would be doing itself a disservice if they rush to anoint former president Donald Trump as their 2024 presidential nominee instead of seeing how he holds up in the primaries against fellow Republicans who also have an eye on the Oval Office.

Relying on an assortment of polls that are increasingly showing conservative voters are shopping around for a new candidate after Trump won one election and lost a second while never winning the popular vote, Balz suggested Trump might win the primaries but might falter again in the general election.

Mitch McConnell's playbook provides Democrats with the roadmap to slap aside GOP delays: strategist

According to a former adviser to President Barrack Obama, there is no reason why Democrats shouldn't adopt legislative maneuvers used by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in their efforts to fill retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer's seat on the highest court of the land.

In a column for the New York Times, political strategist Stephanie Cutter told Democrats to not panic just because Republicans will inevitably try to put up roadblocks to President Joe Biden's nominee to the bench because they have McConnell's "playbook" to work from.

LA barbershop nails it: Electing Obama 'just really released a lot of hatred and racism'

In interviews at Tolliver's Barber Shop in South L.A., regulars agreed that the election of President Barack Obama in 2008 plunged the Republican Party into a paroxysm of anger that metastasized and led to the election of Donald Trump as the Republican Party became more unabashedly racist.

According to LA Times columnist Steve Lopez, a visit to Tolliver's Barber Shop revealed Black voters who are equally bitter, angry and dismayed as they watch the GOP try to roll back voting rights -- and they tie the genesis of the anti-democratic movement to a knee-jerk reaction to Obama becoming the first Black president.

Trump has much bigger problems than 'money things': former federal prosecutor

According to a Florida-based former U.S. attorney, Donald Trump's dreams of a political comeback after a bitter defeat in the 2020 presidential election could be derailed by any number of criminal investigations looking into his personal finances, his attempt at election interference in Georgia and his involvement in the Jan 6th insurrection.

With the Associated Press reporting "Trump facing legal, political headwinds as he eyes comeback," as he heads to Conroe, Texas for a "Save America Rally" on Saturday, on MSNBC legal experts Laurence Tribe and ex-federal prosecutor Dennis Aftergut claimed, "Back in the real world, the Justice Department announced on Tuesday it was investigating the Trump campaign’s bogus elector slate scheme, which has quickly become a focus of the House select committee investigating Jan. 6."

Rally speaker who flirted with 'Stop the Steal' conspiracies reappointed to Wisconsin Elections Commission

Robert Spindell, the Republican member of the Wisconsin Elections Commission who most seriously flirted with false accusations of election fraud last year, has been reappointed to the body by Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg).
Spindell was first appointed to the commission in 2019 by then-Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald. He’ll now serve a full five year term, set to expire in 2026.

In the months before and after the 2020 presidential election, Spindell frequently attempted to put his finger on the scale in favor of his party and indulged some of the figures spreading conspiracy theories and lies about the election.

Emails obtained by the Wisconsin Examiner last fall showed that after the Green Party was denied access to the presidential ballot because of a technicality, Spindell offered party officials help finding a “good lawyer.”

'Clear potential of a federal crime': CNN analyst says Jan. 6 panel is 'laser focused' on fake Trump electors

On Friday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," former federal prosecutor Elie Honig outlined the implications of Congress pursuing the fake "alternate" electors Trump allies sought to submit to Congress from states that Joe Biden carried.

"Fourteen people tied to that subpoena," said anchor Erin Burnett. "They are obviously not going to get all 14 to cooperate and it is a long process, but do you think they will get a few? And is a few or a handful enough?"
