Writing for USA Today, Jill Lawrence argued that congressional Trump supporters who planned to stop the certification of the 2020 election deserve to be expelled from Congress.

Writing Monday, Lawrence recalled the recent revelation that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was among those who text messaged White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Jan. 5 on ways to overthrow the 2020 election.

The Washington Post revealed that a group of third-graders was forced to reenact moments from the Holocaust. The instructor then told the students not to tell anyone about it.

The incident happened at Watkins Elementary School, revealed the Washington Post. The instructor assigned various roles. One student, who is Jewish, was told to play Adolf Hitler, and others were forced to pretend that they were digging mass graves for murdered victims. At the end of the reenactment, the Jewish student was then told to pretend to kill themselves.

Former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi explained on Sunday that a recent statement by President Donald Trump led him to believe that the ex-Republican leader knows that something is about to happen in his ongoing legal problems.

When the House Select Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 began its work, former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman confessed that he never expected it to go very far. But in the past several weeks, the committee has refused to stand down against former officials in President Donald Trump's White House.

The committee has already held Steve Bannon in contempt, and the Justice Department's grand jury voted to indict him. The committee and full Congress has now voted to hold Mark Meadows in contempt.

Speaking to MSNBC on Sunday, Dr. Mary Trump said that she thinks her uncle should be forced to testify before the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"He's a private American citizen," Dr. Trump explained. "He needs to answer to his alleged crimes. He needs to explain his participation in the incredibly serious events. There was an armed insurrection on Jan. 6 in this country, and we need to know what role he played. he needs to be held accountable if they indeed find that he was complicit in any way. And we also need to know what his response will be. Is he going to plead the fifth? Is he going to show up? Is he not going to show up and be held in contempt? Last I checked, Donald believes that people who plead the Fifth are guilty. It would be very, very good to know how he responds and what that response says about what kind of trouble he thinks he's in."

CNN's Jim Acosta called out Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) after he revealed he wouldn't support President Joe Biden's Build Back Better plan that would give Americans the child tax credit, tech neutral energy tax incentives and control of drug prices, as Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) explained in his letter to his West Virginia colleague.

Speaking to CNN political analyst John Avlon, Acosta noted, "I do think that Joe Manchin did mislead a lot of people in his party for many many months," said Acosta. "And yes, he may represent a MAGA state now and so on but not everybody in West Virginia has a houseboat."

In a conversation about Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) destroying the Build Back Better bill, Lincoln Project adviser Tara Setmayer explained that the White House should use its power to pressure him.

The White House said they've been trying to work with Manchin for months but noted he doesn't have the "courage" to support things like the child tax credit, which has overwhelming support. Sen Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told CNN's Jake Tapper that they should vote on the bill and force Manchin and Republicans to be on the record that they refuse to support the legislation. Setmayer explained that such a strategy clearly isn't working and urged another approach.

When Cohen was put in prison, COVID-19 was raging through the country and, namely through prisons. As a result, many correctional facilities put non-violent offenders on house arrest, including Cohen. To let him out, however, Cohen was told he'd have to sign a statement promising he wouldn't publish his book until he had served his entire prison term, which would come after Trump's presidency. It also demanded that he wouldn't speak to the press.

A new poll from Navigator Research reveals that a whopping 3 in 4 Americans are so against the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol they think the actors deserve to be prosecuted. This puts some Republicans in Congress in a difficult position.

The survey shows that 61 percent of Republicans and 77 percent of independents agree that those who participated in the violence deserve to be arrested and indicted. These new findings reveal a significant difference between Americans and voters in all parties against elected Republicans.
