On Thursday, The Daily Beast reported that an Idaho sheriff is facing felony charges after he pulled a gun on a church youth group going door to door in his neighborhood — and his excuse for why he did it is causing further controversy.

"Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland has been charged by the Idaho attorney general in connection with the Nov. 9 incident, which began when a Latter-day Saints youth group was delivering messages of thanks shaped like turkeys to those in their congregation," reported Allison Quinn. "A group of seven girls between age 12 and 16, along with their adult chaperone, was handing out the 'thankful turkeys' in Rowland’s neighborhood in the city of Blackfoot. The activity involved pinning the 'turkey' notes to doors, and then ringing the occupant’s doorbell and running away, leaving them to find the message. When the girls stopped at Rowland’s house, he allegedly told his wife to fetch him his gun because he was fearing a potential home invasion."

Ghislaine Maxwell, the former partner of Jeffrey Epstein, does not intend to testify in her trial, the Miami Herald reported Thursday.

According to a report from Britain’s Telegraph, Maxwell's lawyers announced that she is "too fragile."

New documents reveal that the United States worked on a deal with members of the Mafia to assassinate Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in Cuba.

President Joe Biden released 1,500 pages of information from the assassination investigations surrounding former President John F. Kennedy. Many of the documents don't specifically deal with JFK's murder but it has a lot to do with the FBI and CIA's investigations of any known criminals or suspected Kennedy foes in or around the Dallas, Texas area.

It has been 58 years since President John F. Kennedy was shot to death in Dallas, Texas. However, the extensive research and investigations that followed produced documents that have remained largely classified. President Joe Biden has released a trove of documents surrounding the assassination and the probes that followed.

According to CNN.com, the documents were scheduled to be disclosed in Oct. 2021 but were put on pause due to national security issues. Now, just a little over a month later, 1,500 documents are being disclosed. That leaves 10,000 documents left that have been redacted or withheld. It's that reason that JFK researchers assume the so-called "smoking gun" isn't included.

Legal analyst Marcy Wheeler noted that White House chief of staff Mark Meadows got a new cell phone after he finished his time in Donald Trump's administration.

One of the text messages revealed by Congress sent to Meadows on Jan.5 encouraged him to check his Signal account. Nothing else was said via text message.

The Ohio chapter of the national group Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced that it fired one of their top leaders after it was discovered he shared internal information about the group to "a known anti-Muslim hate group."

NPR reported Wednesday that former executive and legal director Romin Iqbal was fired when the national headquarters contacted board members with the information.

CNN host Brianna Keilar recalled group projects in school where some do all the work and someone who doesn't do anything takes all of the credit. That's what she thinks Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and other Republicans are doing now that funding from the COVID-19 relief bill is being distributed to states.

In a CNN segment, John Avlon recalled that no Republicans voted for the American Rescue Plan, the bill President Joe Biden and Democrats passed in the early days of 2021. Those funds paid for significant investments in a local airport.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6 could ultimately find former President Donald Trump was criminally liable for those hurt during the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Swalwell answered questions about the text messages uncovered on the phone of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. He also noted that all of the information being uncovered now, including the thousands of pages of documents and text messages from Meadows, weren't handed over to the House during the second impeachment.

Republican Gov. Kristi Noem was named by a fired state official who testified that the South Dakota governor used her position to score a real estate license for her daughter. The employee, Sherry Bren, was then pushed out of her position as the executive director of the South Dakota Appraiser Certification Program, CNN.com reported.

It was previously reported that Noem stepped in to ensure her daughter, Kassidy Peters, got an extra chance to correct her work on the exam and application before it was submitted for approval. She was facing a denial of her certification and that's when the July 27, 2020, meeting occurred.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows was voted in contempt of Congress in the Jan. 6 select committee Monday evening, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Justice Department will indict him.

According to former federal prosecutor Joyce White Vance, however, the DOJ is likely to move forward with the indictment.

Late Monday night, Rolling Stone published an extensive interview with Dustin Stockton and Jennifer Lynn Lawrence revealing that they've been cooperating with the House Select Committee on the attack on the U.S. Capitol. The couple exposed Donald Trump's administration, saying that they were informed of possible violence during the Jan. 6 event, but ignored the warnings.

“This guy’s sitting on giant gold buildings all over the world with his name on it, and we’ve done more to help those people than he has,” Stockton said of Trump. “It’s f*cking disgusting."

Washington, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine announced Tuesday that the district will sue the militia groups the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys for their involvement around the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

According to the Washington Post, Racine intends to use the modern version of the KKK Act from 1871 which was made to ensure government leaders could carry out their duties and after the Civil War, protect civil rights.

A new book excerpt published by Forward on Monday revealed that former President Donald Trump treated former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu poorly during his final year in office. Now it's causing problems with evangelical pastors, according to the Washington Post.

The report revealed that former Trump aide Jared Kushner erupted at the Israeli ambassador because he revealed that Netanyahu didn't trust the Trump administration.
