Former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani met with members of special counsel Jack Smith's team recently -- and now the Wall Street Journal is reporting details of the kinds of questions the one-time mayor of New York City answered.
According to the Journal, Smith's team zeroed in on efforts by fellow former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell to get the United States military to seize voting machines that she believed had been compromised under the direction of the late Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez.
"The meeting erupted into a shouting match between White House lawyers and Powell and her associates, prompting Trump to call Giuliani, who left a dinner in Georgetown to referee the dispute," reports the Journal. "Giuliani recounted some details of the episode in his testimony before the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol and efforts to overturn the 2020 election."
Powell's wild conspiracy theories about Dominion Voting Systems' machines, which she learned about from a woman who claims to receive messages from the wind, were deemed outlandish even by many hardcore Trump supporters such as trade adviser Peter Navarro.
