Trump's summer is in turmoil knowing 'that another shoe could still drop': analyst

In a column for MSNBC, analyst Hayes Brown suggested Donald Trump is having his "worst summer ever" as his legal problems accelerate, he's tied up in multiple jurisdictions with civil lawsuits, federal charges in Florida and a multi-count tax fraud indictment in Manhattan.

As the analyst pointed out, the former president is likely waiting for the next "shoe to drop," with special counsel Jack Smith reportedly close to filing more charges in New Jersey and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis slated to announce charges in mid-August related to election tampering in the 2020 presidential election.

With reports that Trump's lawyers -- including former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani -- are speaking with DOJ investigators and individuals who participated in a fake electors scheme in the 2020 election getting immunity deals, the MSNBC columnist claimed the former president will likely bolt from his Mar-a-Lago resort more frequently to speak at rallies to raise his spirits as his chances of staying out of jail decline.

Writing, "...several developments in the three weeks since his [Florida] arraignment threaten to ratchet up the stakes of his legal jeopardy even further," Brown added, "the Mar-a-Lago case is also not going great for Trump. Even though a federal grand jury in Miami has already handed up an indictment, since then it has issued more subpoenas related to the investigation, The New York Times reported last week. Whether or not that actually means more charges are to come is up in the air, but it can’t be a great feeling for Trump to know that another shoe could still drop."

"It can’t be a pleasant to be around Trump as he summers at his Bedminster golf resort in New Jersey," Brown wrote before noting that, so far, Bedminster has not been subject to search like Mar-a-Lago was by the FBI looking for more missing documents.

He then added, "But I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a little bit surlier every time he’s in the room where an audio recording captured him shuffling through papers before he showed off classified documents. With both his homes filled with reminders of his troubles, he’ll most likely need to connect with his still-adoring fans on the campaign trail this summer to feel like he’s on vacation."
