'He took my hope': Texas woman abandons college plans after jailer admits raping her
A 27-year-old Texas woman said this week that her life had been ruined after a jail guard admitted raping her over the weekend.
The woman, who did not wish to be identified, told KPRC that a guard at the La Porte Police Department Jail lured her to the jail laundry room in the middle of the night with promises that she would have the opportunity to reduce her time behind bars.
The guard then talked about how much he hated women, she said.
"He hates women, he said that he doesn’t trust women, that they don’t know how to keep their mouths shut," she recalled.
The woman said that the guard removed his gun belt and raped her for "three or four horrifying minutes," according to KPRC.
"He just kept telling me to yes, say yes, yes, say yes, that you want this," she explained.
The guard reportedly admitted raping the woman after the attack was reported to his superiors. Although he immediately resigned, he had not been charged with a crime.
The victim, who was a former cheerleader, said that she had planned to go to college before the guard destroyed her life.
“Hope, he took my hope of becoming better, of improving my self-esteem," the woman told KPRC. "I can’t eat, I can’t sleep. I hate myself. I hate the way I look. It makes me want to cut my face and make a scar so I’m like, ugly."
La Porte police Sgt. John Krueger insisted that the matter was being thoroughly investigated.
"Our department wants to be thorough and make the strongest case possible, so we are still collecting evidence and will present that evidence to the district attorney as soon as possible," Krueger remarked.
