'It's just wrong': Ex-prosecutor says Trump's conduct is so bad he should resign like Nixon
Former Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York Mimi Rocah suggested President Donald Trump should resign from office for his attempt to install Matt Whitaker as acting Attorney General.
Rocah, Pace Law's distinguished fellow in criminal justice, made the remarks to Brian Williams on MSNBC's "11th Hour" on Wednesday.
"Mimi, the in-house office of legal counsel at the Justice Department says, 'General Whitaker looks good to us.' What are we to think about that?" Williams asked.
"Look, it's disappointing in the sense that I think it's wrong, but it's not entirely surprising," she replied. "This is the same office that said that the first travel ban was legal and that didn't work out so well in the courts."
"But the real point is -- it's just wrong," Rocah argued. "Walter Shaub has a great article that came out today where he said ... the last president who got rid of someone to impact an investigation of him was forced to resign."
"Trump has now done this twice, with the FBI Director; with the Attorney General," she continued.
"If that isn't a reason to get a president to resign -- forget about criminal prosecution -- I don't know what is," she concluded.
