White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is holding a news briefing on Monday.
The briefing is the first she has given since last Monday, where she was grilled by reporters over Trump's controversial zero-tolerance immigration policy.

Presidential historian Jon Meacham explained the historical context in which Donald Trump officials should not be surprised to be publicly shunned during a Monday appearance on MSNBC.
On Friday, The Red Hen, a farm-to-table restaurant in Lexington, Virginia ejected White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
She lashed out at the establishment, as did President Trump, and now the restaurant is facing threats.
"You have said we're kind of back to the colonial era in terms of public shaming, and this is an administration now reaping what they've sown. Explain, what do you mean by that?" host Craig Melvin asked the historian, who won a 'Pulitzer Prizer' for his biography of Andrew Jackson
"The presidency sets a certain tone of heart and mind in the heart of the nation," Meacham replied.
"The president introduced -- and even if he hasn't introduced it, exacerbated to a remarkable degree -- a culture of bullying, name-calling, and hectoring," he explained. "And you reap what you sow."
"The folks who work for him, who are part of this remarkably unconventional administration -- and that's putting it as politely as I can on a Monday -- I don't think should be surprised at this reaction," he concluded.

“The View” on Monday took on Melania Trump’s wildly controversial “I don’t care do u?” jacket, which the first lady unscrupulously donned Friday as she visited a border detention facility in Texas.
“If Michelle Obama had worn this jacket my head would have blown up on television,” Meghan McCain offered, suggesting fellow Republicans should be “intellectually honest” about how they would have handled any other first lady displaying that message during a humanitarian crisis at the border.
“I have defended Melania and defended Melania and defended Melania,” McCain said. “I can’t stand this, I think it’s crazy, I don’t care what message she’s trying to send to the president or anyone else, it’s inappropriate.”
“The whole point of being first lady is that we care,” she continued. “We’re here because we care. I disagree vehemently with the majority of this room and this panel but we have to care about what’s going on in this country.”
Joy Behar said the jacket was “literally deaf,” like “so tone-deaf that you can’t hear at all.” She noted when she first saw the photo she assumed it was fake.
“You’re on your way to visit children that are being held in cages and this is what you wear?” Behar demanded.
The panel then wondered if the first lady was “set up” by someone in her inner circle, prompting McCain to point out “everything this woman does is intentional.” Behar said it’s important to remember Melania Trump is a birther and “agreed with her husband that Barack Obama was not born in this country,”
“It’s the first thing that made me really not like her,” McCain later said. “It’s the first thing she has ever done that has changed my opinion of her.”

CNN host Kate Bolduan attempted to claim the moral high ground on Monday by shaming immigration attorney David Leopold after he called Trump adviser Stephen Miller a "white nationalist."
Following a segment where Bolduan condemned a restaurant owner who asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to leave, the CNN spoke to Leopold about President Donald Trump's call to strip undocumented immigrants of their due process rights.
"Is this within the president's powers?" Bolduan asked.
"I would argue no," Leopold said. "The idea here is that the president is supposed to enforce the law in good faith with an idea toward national security and border security. And then locking up kids and then gutting due process, taking away the right to go to a hearing before a judge does not serve border security, does not serve any of those interests."
"Immigration law is harsh, it's true," he continued. "And used in the wrong hands, as it is now with President of the United States Donald Trump, it can be used as a battering ram. And I think we have to be mindful that this is an administration that's tried to ban entire religions."
Leopold added: "This is an administration that is advised by a white nationalist, Stephen Miller, in the White House."
But Bolduan interrupted: "I don't know if you want to go as far as -- I mean, let's not -- I just did an entire segment about civility here. I don't know if you want to call Stephen Miller a white nationalist."
"Well, it's not an uncivil thing," Leopold said. "I would argue that it's a fact. But okay."
"Honestly, I have not seen that," Bolduan remarked. "Where is the fact on that?"
"Look at the types of policies we've seen from this administration," Leopold advised. "Look who is being targeted by this administration."
"The point is that the law should be used fairly," he stated. "When we see a tweet from the president on a Sunday decrying judges, saying that there should be no judges, that people shouldn't have a chance -- immigration law is complicated and if somebody comes into the United States, they may have been trafficked here, they may have the right to asylum... and may have the right to a visa. That's why we have judges. That's why we have courts."
"If it starts with immigrants, how far does it go?" Leopold concluded. "This is an administration that has talked about denaturalizing American citizens."

Sunny Hostin was alone among "The View" co-hosts to defend a Virginia restaurant owner who refused to serve Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The owner of the Red Hen Restaurant asked the White House press secretary and her family to leave Saturday after polling her employees, who disagreed with the Trump administration's family separation policy and other actions.
"This is not who we are as Americans, and (Rep.) Steve Scalise was shot at a baseball game because of political motivations," said co-host Meghan McCain. "This can ramp up, and I don't like it, and I don't think this is where we should be as Americans."
Co-host Joy Behar essentially agreed, saying there was no point in trying to embarrass or ostracize Trump administration officials like Sanders and Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
"They actually are shameless, so what's the point of trying to shame them?" Behar said.
Co-host Sara Haines argued that the restaurant owner had become what she criticized, but Hostin disagreed -- saying White House officials were public officials and accountable to the Americans they serve.
"There are consequences, you know, you make choices," Hostin said. "You know, people have been comparing this to the gay couple being refused service. Well, being gay is not a choice. Choosing to stand up in front of this administration is your choice."
McCain defended administration officials, saying she had family members who served Trump, and she asked Hostin whether she would feel comfortable having dinner with her and her family.
"I don't know," Hostin admitted. "I don't know, but I will say that's their choice."
Host Whoopi Goldberg warned that refusing service to someone with opposing political views was a dangerous and slippery slope, but Hostin said she was missing the point.
"Your ideology is not a protected class under the law," Hostin said. "So if you're a business owner and you do not want to serve Sarah Sanders, it's perfectly within your rights. This administration is the height of not being civil."
A Virginia caller on C-SPAN's Republican line on Monday suggested that someone might burn down the Red Hen restaurant after its owner protested the Trump administration by asking White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to leave.
During Monday's edition of Washington Journal, host Pedro Echevarria asked callers for reaction to the news that Sanders had been asked to leave the restaurant over the administration's "zero tolerance" policy on immigration.
"Ms. Sanders should be very happy that she was asked to leave," Frank from Virginia told Echevarria. "Because some fool in the kitchen would have probably spit in her food."
"What did you think about her being asked to leave in the first place?" the C-SPAN host wondered.
"Like I said, I think she should be happy," Frank replied. "You've got stupid garden implements like the woman that owns [the Red Hen] and like [California Democratic Congresswoman] Maxine Waters. It's crazy that people like that are ever put in any kind of authority."
Before hanging up, Frank added: "Please keep us informed on what happens to that restaurant in case somebody decides to burn it down for her."

NBC host Megyn Kelly on Monday shamed the owner of the Red Hen restaurant after she asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to leave her establishment.
In a segment that evoked Kelly's days at Fox News, the NBC host reacted to the news that Sanders had been asked to leave the Red Hen and actor Seth Rogan refused to sign an autograph for House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).
Kelly's panel began by suggesting that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was wrong to call for "push back" against members of Trump's administration.
Former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District Daniel Goldman argued that the protests against the Trump administration had to be put in the context of President Donald Trump's own actions.
"As a candidate, he said that he wanted to lock up his political opponent," Goldman recalled. "[He] said he was going to send some enforcers to a campaign event to boot people out and to get physical. And then every day on Twitter, the vitriol and the personal attacks are ramped up. And it's creating a climate where the political is moving over into the cultural... So this is an outpouring of it."
Kelly recalled her days at Fox News when Trump campaigned on using physical violence, but she then slammed Waters for "incivility."
"You don't call for incivility or arguably violence because that's how it sounded to me to in response to your own anger about what's happening at the southern border," Kelly opined. "That's not the way forward."
"I think she's calling for people to stand up and protest," NBC correspondent Stephanie Gosk interrupted.
"By kicking people out of restaurants?" Kelly asked.
"Yes, I think that is what that was," Gosk replied. "It would have been uncivil if they had pushed her, it would have been uncivil if they had shouted at her. This was a very civil, 'Please leave my restaurant.' It was a protest. It was, 'Sarah Huckabee Sanders, you are the spokesperson for an administration that we fill very strongly has wronged us and has at times lied to us. And our way to demonstrate how upset we are is to protest -- and that is, I'm not going to serve you dinner.'"
"It's protest but it's uncivil," Kelly insisted.
"This started as a result of [Trump's] family separation policy," Goldman chimed in. "And that, everyone I think agrees, is uncivil at a minimum."
Kelly argued that administration critics should take their protest "to the street" instead of denying service to Sanders.
"You can get a million person march to make that point," Kelly said. "But, to me, when it's one-on-one, face-to-face -- I mean, look what happened with Paul Ryan and Seth Rogan this weekend... Paul Ryan's kids wanted a picture with him and as soon as he saw that they were Paul Ryan's kids, he said no. And then he lectured the kids on how bad their dad was in front of their dad!"
Karamo Brown of Netflix's Queer Eye remarked that Rogan may have helped Ryan's children understand, "Your father is doing some really terrible and horrible things."
"Paul Ryan hasn't done anything [wrong]," Kelly shot back.
Kelly ended the segment by lecturing those who don't support Trump.
"You can loathe President Trump, you can loathe his policies, you can completely have zero respect for those who support him and put his agenda into operation," she stated. "But you have to be respectful of the people who put him in office or you're going to get four more years just like these."
"This is going to galvanize -- he's got 90 percent support amongst Republicans -- this is going to galvanize every Republican in the country because they are going to feel like they were kicked out of that restaurant, like they were embarrassed in front of their kids, like they are so deplorable they can't even eat in a public place anymore!" Kelly exclaimed.
"Other people are allowed to fight back and to push back," Goldman reminded Kelly. "And if [Trump] is going to go down this road of daily personal attacks against everything.... It's certainly not okay that he does it and everybody else can't."
"Why can't you choose enlightenment and love and light and go towards that?" Kelly asked.

Comedian George Lopez had harsh words for "hypocritical" Americans that want to deport Latinos while hiring them to do menial labor.
In an interview with TMZ ostensibly about the World Cup, Lopez first knocked the United States for its failure to qualify for the worldwide soccer championship.
"The U.S. is trying to keep Mexico out," he said. "Meanwhile, the United States can't even qualify for the World Cup."
"They're too busy pointing f*cking fingers to be looking to see where the ball's going," Lopez continued.
Things took an even more political turn when he weighed in on President Donald Trump's increased internment and deportation of undocumented Latino immigrants.
"The same people that are pointing the fingers are the same people that have Latinos come to their house every day and fix their meals, and change their kids, and clean their house and cut their grass," the comedian added. "It's hypocritical."
"You know what? I have the power to tell all of your nannies that while you're at work," Lopez concluded, "to take YOUR kids and see how you like it."

In a filmed altercation, a white woman told California man Esteban Guzman that Latinos are "rapists and animals." After he posted the video to his Facebook, however, the website took it down for violating its community standards.
"Why do you hate us?" Guzman asked the woman, whose name has not yet been published.
"Because you're Mexicans," she responded.
"We're honest people right here," he retorted, only to have the woman laugh in his face.
"You're rapists," she said, "and animals."
"Drug dealers, rapists and animals," she repeated.
The woman then said something about "the president of the United States."
"Do you believe everything he tells you?" Guzman asked her.
The video was republished by the groups Reforma Migratora and Progreso Legal Group on Facebook, and by Keindra Woods, the 17-year-old founder of the Hope4Humanity Project. On his own Facebook, Guzman said the video had been removed for violating Facebook's policies.
The screenshot of the notification Guzman received reveals it was taken down for violating community standards barring "offers of sexual services, solicitation of sexual material, threats or depictions of sexual violence, threats to share intimate images or any sexual contact involving minors."
Raw Story has reached out to Guzman and Facebook for comment.
A CNN panel on Monday attacked President Donald Trump for simply wanting to rule America by decree instead of through legislation enacted by Congress.
During the discussion, panelist John Avlon said that Trump was clearly frustrated that he can't just override Congress and the courts by ousting all undocumented immigrants from the country without due process.
"This issue is not playing the way the president would like," he said. "He can't make it disappear. This is a fundamental conflict between our values and policies, and when people see children crying and screaming, separated from their parents and put in cages without any receipts... that violates them."
Fellow panelist Brian Karem shared Avlon's view, and he said it reflected Trump's fundamental misunderstanding about how democracy is supposed to work.
"This president wants to be King Donald Trump, not President Donald Trump," he said. "And he really doesn't care too much about how the constitutional separation of powers takes place. He wants to be able to have an edict and go forward, and it doesn't work that way."

John Oliver began his Sunday show, "Last Week Tonight," by hammering President Donald Trump and Fox Business for their lack of compassion for the children they put in cages.
Oliver outright called Trump, "the abusive father everyone will be talking about in therapy for the next 40 years."
He went on to call out Trump for claiming that he had no power to change the policy that resulted in thousands of children being separated from their families and thrown into detention centers.
"His hands were tied. There was nothing he could do. Well, guess what?" Oliver asked, before showing a clip of the president doing the opposite. "Yes, Trump claimed he couldn't do a thing, and then he did it. Which is a little strange, because he usually claims he can do things and then doesn't do them, like 'draining the swamp,' or 'locking up Hillary,' or attending Tiffany's sweet 16."
Oliver cited reports that the children will now be held with families, however, there's a problem with that: children can only be held for 20 days legally. It's unclear what will happen to the children when the 20 days are up and their parents are still behind the cage doors.
"Which means, in less than three weeks, they could start splitting families up all over again," Oliver said.
When the host brought up the administrations plan to reunite children with their families, he explained that it's about as detailed as any Trump plan. According to a CNN report, they have everything put together except how long it would take and how it would get done.
"Well, hold on, because those are some pretty major pieces to leave out," Oliver said. "In fact, it's all the pieces."
When it came to Trump's apologists, Oliver said they were spinning in overdrive trying to come up with others they could blame for the crisis. That is, except for Fox Business host Stuart Varney.
"It took Fox's Stuart Varney to come up with the argument, 'Who gives a sh*t,'" Oliver summarized. He played a clip of Varney saying that the story the media isn't talking about is the success of Trump's tax cut. According to him, that's the real story.
"Wait: 'Why are we talking about this, we should be talking about something else,'" Oliver explained. "That deflection technique doesn't really work when the thing you're deflecting from is children in cages. If a realtor selling a house were to say, 'Why are we talking about the children in cages? The kitchen has marble counter tops.' The only acceptable response would be, 'Because they're children and they're in cages. Someone needs to let them out you f*cking monster!'"

The bizarre and amusing story begins in Norway. "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver discovered a 7-11 commercial for the country that urges safe sex in the strangest way possible.
According to the HBO host, Norway's 7-11 commercial features the amazing vistas of fjords, midnight sun and, unfortunately, their over-abundance of chlamydia. The ad urges people to purchase protection, at 7-11. Part of the safe sex ad campaign includes a man dressed like a penis wondering around and scaring people by shooting confetti out of the tip. He then screams at them for a reason Oliver can't quite figure out.
His main point, however, is that the man dressed like a penis shows the penis bent at a 90-degree angle. Oliver was concerned that people might think that is typical for Norwegian penises, and assured the world it is not. If someone does have a bent penis, however, Oliver urged them to send the photos to an email address he identified as Attorney General Jeff Sessions' at the Department of Justice.

In an interview with MSNBC's Kassie Hunt, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) revealed the horrors she saw at the detention facility that she visited in Southern California.
President Donald Trump's administration as well as the Department of Homeland Security has said that the children have been able to call their parents and speak with them. During Melania Trump's visit to McAllen, Texas, the first lady was told that the children were allowed to speak to their parent or family member twice a week. However, it was only if they could prove that the person they were calling was a guardian with documentation.
Harris told MSNBC that the children are being charged for such phone calls at the California facility she visited. Each child must pay 85 cents per minute when they use the phone.
When Harris brought up some of the women that were seeking asylum from violence, Hunt noted that the Trump administration has decided to change the policy that individuals can seek asylum if they are fleeing domestic violence or gang violence.
"They have rolled back the protections that existed for pregnant women and there are pregnant women in that prison right now," Harris said of the facility. "And there are pregnant women that have had miscarriages since they've been here, not to mention what they did in terms of resending DACA. There's a systematic and clear constellation in policy perspective from this administration as it relates to women and children and families."
Trump was supported heavily by the anti-choice and white evangelical Christian communities. At the so-called March for Life in January, Trump celebrated those who've dedicated their lives to protecting a fetus.
"The March for Life is a movement born out of love. You love your families, you love your neighbors, you love our nation and you love every child — born and unborn — because you believe every life is sacred, that every child is a precious gift from God," he said.
In a speech to the march in 2017, Vice President Mike Pence proclaimed, "My friends, life is winning in America."
It's unclear how many women have lost their pregnancies while in detention facilities.
At least one emergency room doctor volunteered to help with medical services, but was turned away for being "too qualified."
