'Pizza, guns, drums, music, family, and God': Details emerge about anti-Asian shooter's background

A Georgia man who has been accused of killing eight people in an apparent attack targeting Asian women described himself as deeply religious in social media posts before the string of shootings.

Aaron Long, of Woodstock, was seen on surveillance video at the Atlanta-area massage parlors and was stopped by law enforcement on Interstate 75 two hours away, but social media posts and past acquaintances offered few clues for the apparently racist shooting spree, reported The Daily Beast.

WATCH: GOP congressman opposes gun control because murder is in the Bible

U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) delivered what amounted to an almost religious sermon Thursday, not "on the mount," but on the floor of the House of Representatives. Higgins was moved to speak out against the Democrats' gun control bill which includes provisions that 90 percent of Americans support.

The Louisiana Republican, a former police officer who was accused by his chief of police for using "unnecessary force on a subject during the execution of a warrant and later gave false statements during an internal investigation," opposes any form of gun control, including closing the "gun show loophole."

Lawmaker pushes to allow concealed weapons in Texas public schools

Six years after Texas passed a controversial measure allowing licensed gun owners to carry concealed handguns on college campuses, one Republican state lawmaker is pushing to expand the law by allowing licensed adults to carry weapons in public and charter schools.

The bill's staunchly pro-gun author, state Sen. Bob Hall, sees the move as a logical extension of Texas' campus carry law, which passed in 2015 over the passionate pleas of Democrats, gun control advocates and some university officials who feared increased violence.

GOPer Boebert facing furious backlash for new ad targeting Nancy Pelosi

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is facing renewed criticism for an ad she made targeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just weeks after Capitol insurrectionists attempted to nab the Democratic leader when they stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6th.

Boebert's recent ad (which can be seen below) was posted to Twitter -- where she calls on Pelosi to "tear down" the Capitol fencing keeping lawmakers safe from another attack -- and then concludes with the sound of a gunshot followed by the sound of the gun being cocked and fired again.

That has critics of Boebert -- who has made guns the central theme of her campaign -- asking if she is subtly sending a message to her followers.

Boebert's attack on Pelosi reminded many critics of her tweets during the insurrection when she was accused of helping pro-Trump extremists track down Pelosi as she was hustled to safety.

You can see some responses to her gunshot ad below.

Internet stunned by Don Trump Jr. rant about teachers' unions in front of a wall of guns

Commenters on Twitter were both baffled and stunned on Sunday over a clip of Donald Trump Jr. ranting about teachers' unions "failing students" by not forcing members to put their lives at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic while he stood before a wall displaying guns.

After first sarcastically repeating "follow the science follow the science," as part of an attack on President Joe Biden's attempt to clean up the COVID-19 mess left by his father, former President Donald Trump, the younger Trump attacked teachers and their unions.

What caused consternation, was his choice to launch the diatribe with guns -- whether toys or not -- in the background which called to mind a video of controversial Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) speaking with weapons haphazardly piled up behind her.

Trump Jr. was quickly called out for his curious background choice.

Montana's GOP governor signs 'constitutional carry' gun bill to allow concealed firearms without a permit

Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a major 'constitutional carry' bill Thursday that will let Montanans carry concealed firearms in public settings including banks and bars without a permit, in addition to limiting university system officials' ability to restrict firearm possession on college campuses.

The measure, House Bill 102, has been described by proponents as a way to enhance Montanans' Second Amendment rights and promote public safety by making it easier for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves from criminals. Opponents have argued that making it easier for Montanans to keep guns close at hand won't necessarily promote public safety.
