'Torches and pitchforks': Critics slam Trump’s 'failures' following East Palestine visit

When former President Donald Trump visited East Palestine, Ohio on Wednesday, February 22, he was quick to blame the Biden Administration — including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg — for the environmental crisis plaguing that area. East Palestine residents have been complaining of headaches, nausea, skin rashes and other symptoms after the early February derailment of a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials.

Trump played the culture war card, claiming that Democrats and the Biden Administration are neglecting East Palestine residents because they are white, Republican, conservative and working class. And he insisted that the crisis would not have occurred on his watch.

Morning Joe nails 'stupid' Kevin McCarthy for his latest 'self-own'

On Friday, "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough went on an extensive diatribe attacking Republicans for not only continuing their support for Donald Trump but also for making a fuss about the train derailment accident in Ohio that they and the former president had a hand in with their drive for deregulation.

As the MSNBC host noted, the GOP outrage at President Joe Biden's response to the toxic crash is only drawing attention to their own failures.

Mike Lindell says he will sue Kevin McCarthy for sharing J6 footage with Fox News

House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California) sharing forty-four-thousand hours of footage from the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the United States Capitol exclusively with Fox News host Tucker Carlson has ignited fierce backlash from Democrats and sparked intense national security concerns among experts. But a new conservative detractor has emerged – MyPillow Chief Executive Officer Mike Lindell – who is deeply mired in litigation stemming from his debunked conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was stolen from then-President Donald Trump.

On Thursday's edition of ex-Trump White House chief strategist and twice-convicted felon Steve Bannon's show War Room on the right-wing network Real America's Voice, Lindell revealed that he intends to sue McCarthy to gain access to what he believes is evidence that will vindicate him.

'It's called the rule of law': Legal experts laud judge's ruling allowing deposition of Donald Trump

A federal judge has ruled that Donald Trump, the ex-president, and FBI Director Chris Wray can both be deposed in sworn testimony in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by former senior FBI official Peter Strzok and a case alleging unlawful release of personal text messages, filed by Lisa Page. A noted legal expert is applauding the decision.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson Thursday afternoon ordered Trump and Wray to be questioned in a case alleging the two former FBI agents were "targeted for retribution," according to The Washington Post. There's one caveat: President Joe Biden must agree to not invoke executive privilege. He has one month to weigh in.

Economist Paul Krugman tears down right-wing arguments that Social Security and Medicare are doomed

When President Joe Biden gave his 2023 State of the Union address on Tuesday night, February 7, he aggressively vowed to protect Social Security and Medicare from GOP efforts to "sunset" or undermine those programs. Biden made it clear that he was not talking about all Republicans or all conservatives, but he was definitely calling out the Republicans who believe that Social Security and Medicare should be abolished or privatized.

Far-right Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida), for example, has proposed that Social Security and Medicare, instead of being renewed automatically, should be reevaluated by Congress every five years. After a five-year period, Scott has argued, Congress should be required to either refund the programs or terminate them. Even Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) has criticized Scott's proposal as a bad idea.
