Wisconsin auditor’s subpoenas withdrawn two weeks after GOP Speaker fired him: report

On Friday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has dismissed a number of subpoenas issued to local officials by former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, two weeks after Vos fired him from his controversial position auditing the 2020 presidential election.

"Vos sent letters to the mayors of Madison and Green Bay and Wisconsin Elections Commission officials on Friday withdrawing subpoenas issued by Gableman ahead of a court hearing next week in the matter," reported Molly Beck.

FBI says Donald Trump combined top secret documents with magazines and personal correspondence

Twice-impeached former president Donald Trump mixed personal correspondence and magazines with classified documents, according to the FBI.

The FBI raided his Palm Beach residence Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8 and found that 14 of the 15 boxes recovered from Trump's home contained multiple classified and top secret documents combined with magazines, personal correspondence and miscellaneous newspapers.

Donald Trump has filed an appeal seeking to dismiss a civil suit filed by a Capitol Police officer on Friday. The lawsuit accuses the former president of inciting the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, which resulted in several deaths and 140 injured police officers.

According to documents shared by CBS News Congressional Correspondent Scott MacFarlane, Trump is arguing "Absolute Immunity" in the appeal.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told President Joe Biden to "Go to hell" on Friday. The MAGA Republican made the comment following the Aug. 24 reveal from the White House that Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven.

Greene made the remark on Twitter and also shared a video of Biden saying that he did not respect MAGA Republicans. "I don't respect these MAGA Republicans," said the president in the clip. Greene responded by accusing Biden of allowing drugs into the country by leaving the border "wide open," arming the Taliban and supporting the genital mutilation of children.

Doctor faces prison for injecting patients with 'unapproved' drugs — and pocketing the difference to buy mansion

On Thursday, the Riverfront Times reported that a doctor from St. Louis, Missouri has been sentenced to prison for a health care fraud scheme in which he bought a "castle-like" mansion with the difference he pocketed from secretly using knockoff osteoarthritis drugs in patients.

"In April, a jury found Dr. Abdul Naushad, 58, and his wife Wajiha, 47, guilty of one count of conspiracy and one count of health care fraud. Today, Naushad was sentenced to a year in prison and Wajiha given three years probation," reported Ryan Krull. "The drug in question is Orthovisc, the FDA-approved version of which is only sold by authorized distributors in the United States. According to a statement issued by the United States Attorney's Office, for over a decade the Naushads injected patients under their care with a cheaper version of Orthovisc, which was imported from overseas and had not been approved by the FDA."

Wisconsin Republican blackballed by his own party after criminal conviction for disorderly conduct — but he's still running

On Thursday, the Green Bay Press Gazette reported that the Wisconsin Republican Party has withdrawn their endorsement of Assembly candidate Peter A. Schmidt and banned him from the county GOP headquarters — but he refuses to exit the race and is still running.

"Schmidt was charged with a felony but later convicted of criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor, after an incident in which a worker on Schmidt's farm was choked in 2019," reported Doug Schneider. "Schmidt pleaded no contest and was found guilty in 2021. A court sentenced him to two years probation and ordered him to participate in an anger-management program."

Republicans have played up the idea that no American should be handed free money for student loan repayment. But a June NPR/Ipsos poll among American adults showed that 55 percent of Americans support giving the $10,000 in loan forgiveness to families making less than $125,000 a year.
