Marjorie Taylor Greene insists Trump not to blame for Jan. 6 attack: ‘No one did this — it just happened’

On Wednesday during an interview on Real America's Voice, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) argued that former President Donald Trump isn't responsible for the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In fact, she argued, nobody is really responsible for the attack.

How allegations of GOP 'reconnaissance' tours are rocketing back during the run-up to the Jan. 6 hearings

In the weeks following the Jan 6. attack on the U.S. Capitol, multiple Republican members of Congress denied giving "reconnaissance tours" ahead of the attack, yet the question of whether there was inside information given to the insurrectionists has come back into the foreground of the conversation ahead of public hearings by the select committee.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ), a former federal prosecutor and retired U.S. Navy Lt. Commander, revealed after Jan. 6 that she believes she witnessed insurgents doing a "reconnaissance" tour prior to the attack.

GOP split over defending Trump from Jan. 6 hearings – but he expects Republicans ‘to fight for his honor’: reports

Republicans are divided on how to defend Donald Trump against the Jan. 6 committee's upcoming hearings, NBC News reports.

Some say that defending Trump would be a wasted effort since Americans' interest in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has waned, and that Republicans should instead focus on what they say are President Joe Biden's weaknesses, specifically inflation and rising gas prices.

Nearly 75 percent of natural gas from the US has been sold to Europe: report

Republicans have attacked President Joe Biden for blaming Russia for the high costs of oil and gas. The United States very rarely uses Russian oil and gas. But oil and gas are global commodities in a global market. So, when Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm explained that the war was to blame for high prices, she walked through how the U.S. is now competing with other countries in buying oil and gas.

As Bloomberg News reported, Granholm was spot on with where oil and gas are going — and it isn't staying at home. Nearly 75 percent of natural gas produced in the United States is being sold to Europe. Many countries in Europe have higher prices for gas than the U.S., particularly in countries like Norway and Denmark.

Ron Johnson trashed after saying the Senate shouldn’t pass any gun safety bills until they probe Hunter Biden

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) made it clear why it's so difficult to get Republicans and Democrats to come together around gun safety solutions that are overwhelmingly supported by American voters.

On Tuesday, Johnson was asked about increasing the age to buy a gun to 21 and expanding background checks. Instead of talking about bipartisan efforts or indicating what he would support, he turned to attack Hunter Biden.

What you might learn from the Jan. 6 hearings -- according to journalists who covered the Capitol riot

In an interview published this in The New Yorker, journalists Andrea Bernstein and Ilya Marritz talked about their reporting on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and what to expect from the House Committee tasked with investigating it.

Bernstein was asked her writing that says “polls show that the proportion of Americans who believe that violent attacks against the government can be justified is rising," saying that one thing that has fueled violent conspiracism is the COVID-19 pandemic. One thing she sees as parallel between right-wing extremists and terror groups in the Middle East are individuals who have few resources to deal with social stressors being subject to radicalization. "...the pandemic made people lose their bearings and increasingly open to online misinformation and disinformation," Bernstein said.

Marjorie Taylor Greene humiliated after falling for fake Twitter account

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., expressed her outrage on Monday after Twitter censored a satirist who propagated a right-wing narrative that most pregnant women who took Pfizer's vaccine in a clinical trial lost their babies as a result of getting the jab.

Greene's gaffe stems from a recent interview between conservative talk show host Jesse Kelly and anti-vaccine advocate Noami Wolf, who erroneously argued during the segment that a torrent of internal documents recently released by Pfizer reveal that the company has been "committing a massive experiment on the human race."

Trump likely hoped to create enough chaos on Jan 6th that he could invoke martial law: former DHS official

Two days before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6th insurrection begins televised hearings and testimony on the attack on the nation's Capitol that followed Donald Trump's appearance at a "Stop the Steal" rally, a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official suggested the former president may have hoped he could declare martial law in the aftermath.

Taking to Twitter, former DHS chief of staff Miles Taylor speculated that Trump possibly saw a way to remain in power if enough chaos was created then he could have declared martial law and halted all the proceedings of the day.

A match made in troll heaven

On Monday morning, far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos posted a picture on his Telegram account of an ID badge bearing his picture and identifying him as a new congressional intern for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the far-right Georgia Republican. In the accompanying post, first reported by Right Wing Watch, he wrote, "I've finally been persuaded out of retirement. But my skills are a bit rusty, so the best role I could land was an unpaid internship with a friend. Pray for me!" Shortly thereafter, he added, "Mummy always said I'd end up in government!"

By Monday afternoon, Greene's office had confirmed the news, with the congresswoman elaborating in a statement to multiple outlets, "So I have an intern that was raped by a priest as a young teen, was gay, has offended everyone at some point, turned his life back to Jesus and Church, and changed his life. Great story!"

Marjorie Taylor Green rages at shooting survivor for visiting Congress to 'bully my weak RINO colleagues'

Gun control activist and Parkland mass school shooting survivor David Hogg apparently isn't planning on meeting with Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene when he travels to D.C. to discuss ways to curb gun violence.

Greene tweeted at Hogg this Sunday, saying that she knew that he and his “girls” were coming to D.C. to “once again try to manipulate some of my gutless weak colleagues to vote for gun control that will violate our freedoms and leave Americans defenseless.”

Bill Maher: Republican campaign ads show that Americans are 'mind-numbingly stupid'

Although Bill Maher is a scathing critic of what he views as “political correctness” and excessive “wokeness” on the left — which he believes is harmful to the liberal/progressive cause — he has no love of the MAGA movement and sees much of the modern Republican Party as dangerously authoritarian. Maher, during an epic rant on “Real Time” in early June, slammed GOP campaign ads as “mind-numbingly stupid” — lamenting that they are aimed at voters who are also “mind-numbingly stupid.”

“We have to figure out how a country can solve any problem if so many of its people are so intractably, astoundingly, mind-numbingly stupid,” Maher told viewers. “And I’m not saying that as hyperbole or just out of frustration. I mean this country just might be empirically, verifiably too fucking dumb to continue as an ongoing enterprise.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene furious Dems attacked ‘white supremacy’ after Buffalo mass shooting

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) complained this week that Democrats attacked "white supremacy" following the racist mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York.

White Christian nationalism is at the heart of 'the most radical fringe groups' working hand in hand with some GOPers: researchers

Hot on the heels of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene posting an extended video praising Christian nationalism (which can be seen below) and promising it is not “something to be scared of," two researchers whose book "The Flag and the Cross" is just about to be published, disputed her claim and said the movement is highly dangerous and a "threat to democracy."

In an interview with Intelligencer, sociologists Samuel L. Perry of the University of Oklahoma and Philip S. Gorski of Yale University, issued a warning that the belief is at the heart of "some of the most radical fringe groups" in the U.S. which are finding support from a smattering of elected Republican lawmakers and some hoping to be on the ballot in November.
