Indiana targets abortion doctor, claiming she violated Ohio girl's privacy

The Republican Indiana attorney general is going after a hospital where Dr. Caitlin Bernard works, saying that she violated a patient's rights by describing the story of a 10-year-old rape victim that was pregnant. Bernard never identified the girl.

It is one of several attempts that anti-abortion AG Todd Rokita has used to go after the doctor. The state has strict abortion laws after legal battles failed.

Republicans were threatened with primaries if they didn't acquit Texas AG Ken Paxton: report

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was acquitted in his impeachment trial Saturday despite facing a number of federal crimes and accusations he used state funds to aid in hiding his affair. He was also accused of firing top deputies in the AG's office who reported him to the FBI.

While Republicans in the state had claimed they sought justice and were angry about Paxton's behavior, in the end, they all circled the wagons to protect him.

Rhetoric expert explains why there's no way to fact-check Trump's 'layers of lies'

Rhetoric expert, Professor Jennifer Mercieca, explained that the way that new "Meet the Press" host Kristen Welker held the interview with Donald Trump had no hope of ever being able to adequately fact-check the president.

"Meet the Press" conducted the interview "live to tape," with the claim that they would be fact-checking him. Mercieca outlined that in an hour-long show, there simply isn't enough time to cover the pile of false claims.

National security expert blames Republican officials for stirring up rage that's led to attacks on FBI

The FBI has opened a new department to handle threats against its own agents that have ramped up as Republicans in Congress and personalities on conservative TV draw parallels between the agency and Trump's prosecution and the Hunter Biden investigation, according to a report.

NBC's Ken Dilanian wrote on Thursday that FBI agents have been particularly swatted by individuals miffed over the lack of a prosecution of Biden. He was indicted on Thursday.

Georgia judge dismisses former Republican chair's complaint about mail he got from special counsel

Former Georgia Republican Party chairman, David Shafer, lost his bid to get the court to intervene in a complaint about unwanted mail he got from a lawyer as he faces trial in the Fulton County election case.

Last week, Shafer filed a complaint against the Fulton County special counsel demanding that he be removed. At issue was a piece of mail the special counsel's law partner sent out in mass mailing that solicited clients.

Hunter Biden indicted on gun charges

President Joe Biden's son Hunter has been indicted in Delaware on three charges involving lying on a gun application form.

Biden – who was a known drug abuser – is accused of lying to a question on the form that asks if the applicant is an unlawful user of an illegal substance. After getting clean, he came forward about his struggle with drug abuse – and allegedly exposed his lie on the form.

Mark Meadows ridiculed by legal analysts for withdrawing latest motion after Fulton County ruling

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Mark Meadows and 16 of his co-defendants will be severed from Ken Chesebro and Sidney Powell, who have requested a speedy trial in the Georgia election case. In response, Meadows withdrew an emergency request he'd made to halt his case while he appealed a decision not to transfer it to federal court.

He'd feared his trial could have happened before the appeal could be heard. Now that's he's been severed from the speedy trial, that's unlikely to happen.

'Lying like a dead dog': Matt Gaetz insults McCarthy while being confronted by MSNBC host

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) went after Speaker Kevin McCarthy on MSNBC Wednesday, saying that the California Republican is a "liar" and a wimp in several different ways.

Speaking to Ari Melber, Gaetz began by saying McCarthy is "lying like a dead dog" about the reason he and McCarthy are feuding. Gaetz swears he wants term limits and that McCarthy agreed to it in their deal in January. While Gaetz said several months ago that he would release the agreement the two men reached, he still hasn't done it. Now he's saying he doesn't have it and that Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) is the one who has the paperwork.
