DeSantis ducks campaign question in Japan as Democrats slam his trip around the world

Gov. Ron DeSantis dodged a reporter’s question about his drop in the polls to Donald Trump on Monday in Japan, the first stop in a world tour that will take him to South Korea, Israel and Great Britain. “I’m not a candidate, so we’ll see if and when that changes,” DeSantis said, smiling with his head bobbing as he replied. DeSantis’ weeklong trip has drawn complaints from Democrats, who argue the governor should be in the state during both the final stretch of the legislative session and in the wake of major flooding and gasoline shortages in South Florida. “Name another past or current govern...

"The View" co-hosts cracked up at a video clip of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis brushing off concerns about his poll numbers with an odd facial expression.

‘Trump is gonna eat him alive’: DeSantis’ overseas trip off to rough start as he says ‘I’m not a candidate’ in viral video

Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, MIA the past few weeks as Florida suffered massive flooding and a gasoline shortage, only to show up to quietly sign a hugely controversial six-week abortion ban, expand his anti-LGBTQ "Don't Say Gay" law, all while continuing to attack Disney, is now being mocked for his response to a question during his overseas trip to to Japan, South Korea, Israel and the United Kingdom.

While DeSantis has been widely ravaged for ignoring his home state as he defiantly traveled the country promoting his book, clearly part of paving the road for his expected presidential campaign, Donald Trump has been rapidly racking up endorsements – from Florida Republicans – as DeSantis continues to plummet in the polls.

'Spiral of lies and insanity': Conservative says Trump's 'stupid attacks' on DeSantis are damaging GOP

An "increasingly disordered and amateurish Donald Trump campaign" couple with his growing attacks on Florida Governor and potential 2024 GOP candidate Ron DeSantis are destroying "the very best Republican policies," a conservative columnist wrote Monday.

According to Karol Markowicz of the New York Post, Trump has a record of accomplishment from his time as president. He "led the country to prosperity that has since sharply declined; he exposes the politicization and corruption of our government agencies when he’s personally targeted by leftist activist district attorneys like Alvin Bragg and when he is the subject of a baseless search for documents at his home," she wrote, adding that Trump still has a very strong base with the party.

Anti-anti-Trumpers badly need DeSantis to win 2024 GOP nomination to excuse their cowardice: columnist

A certain segment of the anti-Donald Trump wing of the Republican Party desperately needs Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for president and win the GOP nomination.

While some conservative thought leaders vowed "Never Trump" in 2016 and kept their pledge, some "semi-fascist" conservatives tried to harness Trump populism to speed the collapse of democracy while other media figures, donors and operatives rationalized the celebrity businessman's grip over the GOP and twisted themselves into an anti-anti-Trump position, wrote political scientist Nicholas Grossman in a new column for The Bulwark.

A billionaire-backed, right-wing lobbying effort is behind bringing back child labor in red states: report

It has been nearly 100 years since children were taken out of the coal mines and put in schools, but some red states, such as Arkansas and Iowa, are looking for a new option. For most farms, immigrant workers that came into the United States were hired to work in these jobs. The significant reduction in immigrants created a void for workers. So, Republicans are turning to the next best place for cheap labor: children.

The Washington Post's Jacob Bogage and María Luisa Paúl explained that the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) and its lobbying arm, the Opportunity Solutions Project, are behind the effort to make adult workers compete with children.
