Glenn Youngkin, the Trump-endorsed Republican nominee for governor in Virginia, is flip-flopping across a "MAGA tightrope" as he tries to embrace the former president without alienating suburban voters critical to his statewide race against Democrat Terry McAuliffe.

Bloomberg reports that Youngkin has positioned himself as a MAGA candidate, hiring pro-Trump economist Stephen Moore and saying the former president "represents so much of why I'm running." But when it comes to policy issues, he "appears to answer two ways."

In a column for The Atlantic, political analyst David Graham attempted to penetrate the reasons why Republicans -- and conservatives in general -- are fighting so hard against masks to stop the spread of the resurgent COVID virus in the face of polls showing a massive majority of Americans support masking up.

With Republican Governors Ron DeSantis (FL) and Gregg Abbott (TX) pushing legislation and executive orders banning mask mandates, the Republican Party is getting bogged down with a reputation as the anti-science party.

'Monstrous' Ron DeSantis scorched after Florida COVID crisis leads to water shortage

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is coming under withering criticism after officials in Orlando were forced to ask locals to conserve water due to the surge in COVID patients.

Late Friday, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, with local officials at his side, urged residents to voluntarily restrict their water usage, stating, as WESH explained, "that many COVID-19 patients require liquid oxygen for their treatment, helping them breathe easier. OUC has used the same liquid oxygen to treat the water supply for years. The process is called ozonation. Liquid oxygen takes away the contaminants and the sulfur smell."

Why anti-vaxx attitudes fit so perfectly with far-right ideology across the globe

It is increasingly clear that much resistance to vaccination in the United States is driven by partisanship. Fox News has spent months comparing vaccination efforts to apartheid and forced sterilization. Conservative politicians have been vaccinated in private, if at all. GOP voters have declared that their opposition to vaccination is driven by opposition to liberals. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, hundreds of thousands have participated in anti-vaccination protests throughout Europe. Many far-right politicians in Europe have aligned themselves with these movements. In France, the far-right leader Marine Le Pen has called mandatory vaccination for health workers an "indecent brutality," while her Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, has described vaccination passports as "totalitarian."

This swell of international activity has left some journalists wondering, why is anti-vaccination emerging as a distinctly right-wing phenomenon across the globe?
