As Fox News host reported breaking news about a police officer who died while on duty on Friday morning, host Steve Doocy seemed unable to suppress a smile.
"Steve, we just learned that the family of this officer who was killed has been notified," Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt as Doocy's expression changed from a frown to a smile.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly ignored a Muslim father speaking at the Democratic National Convention whose son was killed fighting for the U.S. and instead aired photos of ISIS fighters and commercials attacking Hillary Clinton over the terrorist attacks in Benghazi.
Speaking at the DNC on Thursday, Khizr Khan explained that his son was killed by a car bomb fighting in Iraq for the U.S. Armed Forces in 2004. Kahn also held up a copy of the U.S. Constitution and challenged GOP nominee Donald Trump to read it.
But viewers of Fox News only briefly saw Khan in a split screen without audio as Brit Hume and Kelly discussed Trump. Kelly then cut to a commercial blaming Hillary for the attacks in Benghazi while Kahn was visible in a split screen. After returning from commercial, viewers saw images of ISIS and a segment warning about the Islamic state.
As Media Matters noted, Kelly did find time at the end of her program to air several minutes of Katy Perry performing at the convention.

Protesters at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia shouted down civil rights icon John Lewis while he was being interviewed by MSNBC's Tamron Hall on Thursday.
Although the Georgia congressman's introduction was met with cheers, things quickly turned ugly when Hall asked about Hillary Clinton's historic nomination.
"We have elected a person of color for two terms," Lewis said. "He broke barriers. President Barack Obama did it in his way. And tonight, this night, we're going to nominate a woman."
"She sucks!" a protester yelled, followed by chants of "She stole it!"
Fighting to speak over the demonstrators, Lewis continued: "I'm convinced she will be elected the next president of the United States."
"We're making progress tonight," he added. "Her nomination is going to inspire young women, young girls, young men all over America and all over the world."
"Bullshit!" someone shouted.
"I can't ignore there are a couple of people in our audience that have yelled things," Hall said, pointing to the crowd. "Some of them have been ugly and vitriolic, others have been their beliefs in democracy and that Bernie Sanders does not get the shake that they believe that he deserves."
"You were beaten within an inch of your life," she observed. "You've seen democracy or the battle for civil rights at its ugliest. How do you communicate to those who choose to speak civilly and not violently toward you here that there's something greater at risk here if Donald Trump becomes the president in your eyes?"
"I think it's so important that we recognize the fact that we win some and sometimes we lose some," Lewis replied. "But we never give up, we never become bitter or hostile. I was beaten, bloodied, left unconscious fighting for the right to vote."
"But I never became bitter, I never lost hope."

A reporter for Sky News, the British sister network of Fox News, came under fire this week for callously ending a broadcast from a church by noting that he could have killed all of the worshippers if he were a terrorist.
A video clip first posted on Twitter by Bobby Faghihi shows the Sky News correspondent standing outside a church following a terrorist attack on another church in Normandy, France.
"There are no obvious signs of security at the church door," the reporter explains. "In fact, this sign at the church door says everybody is welcome."
To demonstrate the security flaw, the reporter enters the church and then reemerges.
"There are about a dozen worshippers in there and one priest," he notes. "If I was a terrorist, I could have killed them all."
The remarks were met with condemnation on Twitter.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) drew a line with CNN hosts Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo on Thursday for holding Donald Trump to a "different standard" than other presidential candidates.
Asked what Hillary Clinton would do about the tension between police black communities and police, Cummings argued that she would strike a balance between supporting law enforcement and holding them accountable.
"What Donald Trump has done has tried to divide us," he explained. "He puts the police in one corner, the community in another corner."
"You all spend a lot of time talking about Donald Trump," Cummings continued. "I see Donald Trump as someone who is about the business of destruction and distraction. Destruction with regard to people who run against him and their reputations; distractions from the things that affect people on a day to day basis: health care, education, things of that nature."
CNN's Cuomo countered that Democrats were "bashing" Trump instead of promoting Clinton's policies.
"Especially when it comes to this latest wrinkle, this gift that you guys say he gave you about asking Russians to hack Hillary Clinton's emails to release them," the CNN host charged. "You guys are calling it treason. He went on TV this morning and said, 'I was being sarcastic. This is the Democrats trying to frame me as a bad guy.'"
"We have to stop excusing him when he says these nasty things," Cummings interrupted. "We really do. Because words do matter."
"But is it treason?" Cuomo pressed.
"I'll let the FBI and others decide that," the Maryland Democrat remarked. "My point is -- and by the way, no matter what it is, it should not have been said. If I did that, I'd be out of office or in jail."
"And he should not be held to some different standard," Cummings added. "I don't know how we get this through [to the media]. We're talking about the president of the United States of America going around saying these kind of things. That's ridiculous."

MSNBC host Chuck Todd posited on Wednesday that Donald Trump's call for Russia to launch a cyberattack on Hillary Clinton was acceptable because the United States government was engaged in espionage against foreign governments.
After Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that Russia should "find the 30,000 emails that are missing" from Clinton's email server, Todd asked Clinton campaign adviser Joel Benenson if he expected the comment to sway voters.
"They already have serious questions about his fitness to be commander-in-chief," Benenson observed. "He's been praising Putin for months, but today he's gone further than anybody ever imagined basically by not only condoning but inviting a foreign power to commit espionage on the United States."
"By the way," Todd interrupted, "we do try to do espionage against Russia as a country."
Benenson seemed briefly stunned.
"Should we be shocked that Russia tries to come after us the way we come after them?" Todd added.
"We should be shocked that a nominee of a major political party is inviting them in!" Benenson exclaimed. "We try to stop them! We don't invite them in, we try to stop them."

Donald Trump surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes lashed out at Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Wednesday for failing to acknowledge that boys could grow up to be president after her historic nomination.
After Hillary Clinton became the first female nominee for president on Tuesday, Hughes argued on CNN the next morning that it was "sexist" for women to vote for Clinton "just because she's a woman."
"Hillary Clinton, when she was in that room of girls, said if you're a daughter or if you're a girl you could be president too," Hughes observed, "this would have been an excellent opportunity to say, 'You know what, whether you are a boy or a girl, both of you, my job will be to make sure it's equally an option for both of you.'"
"That's the problem," she continued. "We've continued to say we want equality, we want equal but we then tear down one group and tried to build up another. That's what I heard last night."
Hughes remarks were met with quizzical looks from the CNN panel.
"So was Hillary Clinton tearing down men?" CNN's Carol Costello wondered.
"I think she was," Hughes insisted. "What about my son? Does my son from what she said -- your daughter can become one as well -- I immediately [thought] what about making it equal so both of them have the opportunity? Why is it that she's going to sit there and put favor on one?"
"I think we have that issue with race," the Trump surrogate opined. "We have that issue with gender. And while I'm celebrating the fact, yes, she got the nomination. But I think we have to sit there and go beyond that now."
Cultural critic Michaela Angela Davis noted that "when you say girls are powerful, you're not saying boys are not."
"There was never a glass ceiling," Hughes shot back. "If there was a glass ceiling, we [women] ignored it, we put our time in to it, we're not here because of a glass ceiling."

CNBC host Michelle Caruso-Cabrera demanded on Monday that presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton and other establishment Democrats "disavow socialism" to prove that Bernie Sanders had truly been defeated.
"The Republican Party got the candidate that the Republican Party voted for and wanted to," Caruso-Cabrera asserted to former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D). "The establishment lost at the RNC. Right?"
"But when it comes to the Democrats, you have a lot of Democrats who say they actually didn't get the candidate they want," she continued. "The establishment won. That's the difference, and that's why you could have discord [at the Democratic convention]."
Richardson pointed out that the Democratic Party had incorporated many of Sanders' ideas into its platform.
"He's been respected, he's endorsed Hillary Clinton," Richardson explained. "I think he's energized the Democratic Party. If you look at what happened in the Republican Party, the fact that the governor of the state where the convention was held, John Kasich, a very good moderate -- he's not going to be happy when I call him that -- didn't even attend, didn't even endorse."
Caruso-Cabrera interrupted: "That's what I find so interesting about the differences between the two parties. You've had so many Republicans disavow Donald Trump. But I haven't heard a single Democrat disavow socialism."
"It's progressivism," Richardson insisted.
"He's a socialist!" Caruso-Cabrera exclaimed. "Bernie Sanders is a socialist. He's a socialist."
According to Richardson, there had been a "convergence of the Clinton wing, the Sanders wing."
"It's not going to be all the Sanders people supporting Hillary Clinton, but I think you're going to see on the issues, on the platform, on income inequality issues, on national security," he said.

On Sunday, during record thunderstorms, one of Chicago's "Blue Line" train stations was apparently hit by lightning, then collapsed.
A passing motorist managed to film the burning spectacle. It was posted on Twitter by @Breaking911:
NBC Chicago said, "Shortly before 7 p.m., the Illinois Medical District station located at 430 S. Damen Ave on Chicago's Near West Side partially collapsed and the overpass was damaged, according to the Chicago Fire Department."
No injuries were reported buy officials did evacuate a nearby train to ensure the passengers' safety.
As news was breaking that as many as 15 people had died during a shooting in Munich, Germany on Friday, Fox News suggested that the incident was evidence that gun safety laws were ineffective and put citizens' lives in danger.
"It has all the hallmarks of an ISIS lone wolf-style attack," Fox News host Jon Scott told viewers. "A guy with a gun going to a popular populated place and opening fire."
"This is why we have to take action now," former New Jersey police detective Steve Rogers warned. "The president has to come to grips with the fact that we are at World War III and he has to use military options to deal with ISIS and terrorist groups in the Mideast and get that funding down to the local level.
Fox News host Heather Childers pointed out that "Germany has some of the strictest gun laws in the entire world."
"There's no right to carry in Germany," she noted. "How might this gunman have gotten his weapon?"
"Well, doesn't that go to the point that it's not about guns?" Rogers opined. "Bad guys are going to get guns. We want to disarm the good guys. And how did they get the guns? Well, there's a black market. ISIS and these terrorist organizations are well, well financed. They've got a lot of money. And they somehow someway not only get guns to these people, they can get explosives to them."
The former detective argued that the NSA needed to aggressively monitor social media over the objection of privacy advocates.
"We're not going to have a country left to have any rights to actually exercise," he insisted. "The abilities we took away from the NSA, we better rethink that because we said it once, we'll say it again. They're here. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when."

GOP strategist Nicole Wallace reacted to Donald Trump's ominous speech at Republican National Convention by declaring that her party was dead.
Wallace, who served on Sen. John McCain's 2008 campaign, spoke candidly as Trump wrapped up his acceptance of the Republican nomination for president and embraced his family on the stage Thursday night.
"You know, listening to this, I was struck by two things that I always believed during my two decades in the Republican politics," she explained to NBC's Lester Holt. "One, the voters always get it right. And two, the Republican Party that I worked for for two decades died in this room tonight."
"We are now represented as a party by a man who believes in protectionism, isolationism and nativism," Wallace continued. "And those are the forces that George W. Bush and, I belive, John McCain were most worried about during their times as the leaders of the Republican Party."
NBC's Chuck Todd was stunned: "You believe the party died tonight?"
"Well, the voters picked this guy, this is where the Republican Party is now," Wallace replied. "They now are attracted to those forces of isolationism and protectionism."
"But the party I was part of for two decades is dead."

Sports and political commentator Keith Olbermann attempted to understand Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump this week through the lens of clinical psychology and determined that the candidate could not pass one of the most widely used "sanity" assessments used to predict criminal and antisocial behavior.
In a column for Vanity Fair that was published on Thursday, Olbermann noted that Trump had repeatedly questioned the sanity of his rivals, including Glenn Beck, Ben Carson, Barack Obama, Ted Cruz and Megyn Kelly.
To evaluate Trump, Olbermann chose a test developed by Canadian criminal psychologist Robert D. Hare. “The Hare Psychopathy Checklist," Olbermann explained, "serves as a kind of triage device to separate the injured from the tripping from the psychopathic."
The test awards points for 20 different personality traits. With a maximum score of 40, the test sets the threshold for clinical psychopathy at 30 points.
The Hare checklist considers traits like grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, shallow affect, lack of empathy, parasitic lifestyle, promiscuous sexual behavior, early behavior problems, irresponsibility and failure to accept responsibility for one’s own actions.
And out of 40 possible points, Trump scored 32 -- putting him over the 30 point threshold for a diagnosis of clinical psychopathy.
"The implications are clear," Olbermann wrote. "Our Trumperor’s New Clothes media rightly sees the latest Trump 'event'—whatever it is this time—as one of the most unbelievable developments in American political history. But the simple mechanics of following, reporting, and writing the proverbial 'new high in low' every single day means that they could be missing one overriding truth about the health of the most remarkable presidential candidate since at least 1864."
"In short, our amateurs’ exercise with the very professional Hare Psychopathy Checklist suggests that if you were betting on it, you’d probably want to bet that Donald Trump couldn’t pass a sanity test—open book," Olbermann concluded.

While things have pretty much settled down inside Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena where the Republican National Convention is being held, outside is a carnival as competing groups shout over each other to grab the attention of the milling crowds.
Wednesday afternoon, videographers from the the Young Turks encountered conservative podcaster Owen Shroyer toting a loudspeaker and railing about Black Lives Matter activists who, he claims, should be more afraid of Muslims than cops.
Bellowing at the crowd, Shroyer blamed President Obama for racial tensions becoming worse, saying, "Is that because you or I are racist? No. It's because the system and the establishment, if they are here protesting, wants to racially divide us. These people don't even realize that they are part of the system that they are trying to fight."
Saying "here they come," Shroyer confronted a group of protestors, yelling at them at close range using his sound system and asking the leader of the opposing group if he knew who George Soros is.
Asked "What do you lose if there are less police killings,"Shroyer dismissed the protester's concerns.
"I don't think that's a major issue," he replied. “There are much bigger issues in this world, in this country than police brutality. I understand there’s issues with the police. I have protested against the militarization of the police before, but this is a false prophet of a protest.”
Shroyer went on to note that several BLM promoters were seen having box lunches and suggested that the billionaire Soros likely paid for them, while also complaining about abortion rates in the black community.
