Republican men are vaccine-hesitant -- but there's little focus on them

In December, Arizona Republican state Rep. Mark Finchem suffered from flu-like symptoms — headache, fatigue, body aches and chills. But it wasn’t the flu; he tested positive for COVID-19. Nearly three months later, his mother, who had recently contracted the coronavirus, died after battling throat cancer for over 40 years. Those circumstances weren’t enough to persuade Finchem, who is in his early 60s, to get a Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. Finchem remains skeptical, he said, because he distrusts the federal government and top public health officials, he’s hea...

Just 1.79% of the COVID-19 tests in the state came back positive from Friday to Saturday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced. The seven-day average also dipped to 2.2%, also a more than five-month low mark. “Some may feel COVID fatigue setting in (but) we have to keep doing what we can to keep each other safe,” Cuomo said. The total number of new COVID-19 cases dropped to 4,164, the second lowest daily total since mid-...

Florida man indicted for selling over $1 million worth of toxic COVID-19 'miracle cure' that was bleach

According to a report from BayNews9, a 62-year-old man and his three adult sons were indicted on Friday for selling a COVID-19 "miracle cure" that was essentially industrial bleach.

The report states that Mark Grenon, 62, of Bradenton, along with his sons Jonathan Grenon, 34, Jordan Grenon, 26, and Joseph Grenon, 32 were hit with federal charges for refusing to stop selling the toxic substance.

"The indictment alleges that the Grenons took in more than $1 million from selling tens of thousands of bottles of it," the report states, adding they "manufactured, promoted and sold 'Miracle Mineral Solution,' which contained sodium chlorite and water," which, "when ingested, the solution became chlorine dioxide, typically used for treatment or bleaching textiles, pulp and paper, the release said."

According to the report the men, "threatened a federal judge that they would 'pick up guns' and instigate 'a Waco' should the government attempt to enforce court orders that halted their distribution of their product."

According to the report, "the indictment charges each of the Grenons with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud and two counts of criminal contempt," and they could face life imprisonment.

Lauren Boebert facing furious backlash after claim 'White people' are being denied COVID-19 vaccine

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) kicked off her morning by claiming that "White people" are being denied access to the COVID-19 vaccine that had critics of the controversial lawmaker scratching their heads wondering what she was tweeting about.

According to the Republican lawmaker, "Denying vaccine access to White people doesn't make you woke, it makes you racist."

With reports coming in that vaccine providers are not seeing as many people coming in for their shots as was hoped as it becomes readily available, commenters on Twitter accused Boebert of trying to create a racial controversy where none exists.

CDC: No restrictions needed for Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine, panel advises US resume use

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention late Friday afternoon announced a CDC panel has determined no restrictions are necessary on the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine, and advised use of the vaccine be resumed. CDC halted use of the vaccine temporarily amid reports of six cases of blood clots in women 18 to 48 years old.

"The recommendation, which was adopted 10-4 with one abstention, by the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, will pave the way for U.S. regulators to lift their recommended pause on using the J&J shot as early as this weekend," CNBC reports. "The single shot is a critical tool in getting lifesaving vaccines to hard-to-reach places that may not have reliable refrigeration, such as tribal lands, poorer neighborhoods and rural communities, as well as to people who may not be able to come back for a second dose, U.S. health officials say."

'Stupidest senator in Congress': Rand Paul slammed after telling Joe Biden to ‘burn his mask’ to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations

Although half of adults in the United States have been at least partially vaccinated for COVID-19, President Joe Biden and his top medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, have been emphasizing that the U.S. still needs to get a lot more Americans vaccinated before it can achieve herd immunity. A recent AP-NORC poll found that 26% of White Americans do not plan to get vaccinated. And Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, during a Fox News appearance on April 21, had a recommendation that is being slammed as idiotic: Biden, according to the GOP senator, needs to "burn" his protective face mask in order to encourage vaccination.

Paul, who had COVID-19 in 2020 and recovered from it, told Fox News' Martha MacCallum, "If you want more people to get vaccinated, Joe Biden should go on national TV, take his mask off and burn it. Light a torch to it and burn his mask and say, 'I've had the vaccine, I am now safe from this plague. If you get the vaccine, you can be safe, too.'"
