Senate hearing gets heated as GOP senator berates Merrick Garland for not pushing ‘stop and frisk’ policies

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) engaged in a furious back-and-forth with Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday, with the Louisiana Republican berating the nation's top lawman for not pushing local law enforcement officials to use stop and frisk on random Americans.

Kennedy initially used his time allotted for questions to attack Garland's job performance, telling the Joe Biden appointee, "I think the Justice Department is losing. I think you're losing on crime. I think you're losing on drugs. I think you're losing on immigration. I think you're losing on Chinese espionage."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After passing a law six years ago allowing convicted domestic abusers to carry firearms, Missouri lawmakers have again stalled on legislation that would close the loophole. Rep. New videos on the set of the movie "Rust" have been released showing actor Alec Baldwin rehearsing with the gun he was given, TMZ and the Daily Beast reported Monday.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office revealed what they say are all of the videos they obtained as part of their investigation into how cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed on set.

People are angry about near-daily mass shootings — and policymakers who don’t care

On Monday, CNN reporter Shimon Prokupecz cited the list of mass shootings over the Easter weekend in South Carolina and Pennsylvania. He noted that the one consistency is that they all contain bystanders, people simply out and about or partying or holding birthday events. Since January, there have been 143 mass shootings in 2022 alone, and it isn't even May. Over 600 people have been hurt.

A Washington Post report interviewed families of some of those victims caught in the crossfire. The only policy solutions have come from states that vote to allow more guns, less regulation and no training required. Yet as the access to weapons increases, so has the rate of mass shootings.

Gunman arrested after shooting and chase in San Diego

SAN DIEGO — A driver suspected of firing several rounds into a park and then leading police on a chase was arrested after he crashed into several parked vehicles in Hillcrest Sunday afternoon, police said. According to a report from Bloomberg, conservative conspiracy provocateur Alex Jones is weighing filing for bankruptcy in an effort to keep his companies afloat as he battles lawsuits over his Sandy Hook and Jan 6th rants.

Jones has been begging fans for help after he was found liable in a defamation lawsuit brought by relatives of Sandy Hook children killed in 2012 that he called a hoax. ‘Shut it down’: Protesters march in Grand Rapids after police killing of Patrick Lyoya

Activists marched and chanted against the Grand Rapids Police Department on Wednesday after the Michigan city released graphic videos showing the shooting of Patrick Lyoya.

"Video shows a police officer in Grand Rapids, Michigan, kneeling on the back of a Black man before fatally shooting him," the Associated Press reported earlier on Wednesday in analyzing the video. "Police released video from different sources Wednesday, nine days after Patrick Lyoya was killed during a traffic stop. Video shows the 26-year-old Lyoya trying to run from the scene, and a violent struggle over the officer’s Taser."
