Nicolle Wallace proves Republicans know they are lying to push voter suppression

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace on Thursday used video clips to prove that Republicans know they are lying about voter fraud as they push anti-demoocratic voter suppression bills in state legislatures.

"The real, duly elected president of the United States, President Joe Biden, on his first foreign trip today seeking to align the United States with the world's democracies," Wallace said. "While here at home, the other party, the Republicans, continue a campaign to undermine our democracy — all in service of a twice impeached disgraced ex-president."

US elections have 'obvious weak spots' that cheaters could exploit — here's how to start fixing them

Many liberal and progressive media outlets have been lamenting the fact that House Resolution 1, a.k.a. the For the People Act — a comprehensive voting rights bill — is unlikely to be passed by the U.S. Senate, where centrist Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia has come out against it. Veteran conservative columnist Mona Charen, in an article published by The Bulwark this week, is somewhat critical of HR 1, but not for Trumpian reasons. Charen, an outspoken Never Trumper who supported now-President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, agrees with Democrats that allies of former President Donald Trump are declaring war on U.S. democracy. And some of her warnings and recommendations are similar to what election law expert Richard L. Hasen had to say in an article published by The Atlantic back on January 4.

The 64-year-old Charen, who worked in the Reagan White House during the 1980s, is worried that in 2024, pro-Trump Republicans will try to overturn the presidential election results if they don't like the outcome — and she doesn't see either HR 1 or the John Lewis Voting Rights Act as adequate vehicles for addressing that "threat."

Right-wing anti-maskers are taking on Republican leaders who protected their states against COVID-19

Fights with grocery store managers have turned into political careers, VICE News reported Thursday, as more anti-maskers and anti-vaccine are signing up to run against Republican governors who acted to try and contain COVID-19 as it spread across the United States.

Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine became one of few in his party willing to listen to the CDC, implement mask mandates, demand shutdown orders and shutting down schools. He's now being targeted by right-wing Republican Rep. Jim Renacci, a follower of Donald Trump, who opposed DeWine's lockdowns.

Enraged anti-vaxxers ignite chaos after storming Rep. Jared Huffman’s first in-person town hall event

In early June, Rep. Jared Huffman invited 100 constituents to register online to attend his first in-person town hall since the pandemic struck. Attendees were told to wear face masks and bring proof of vaccination to enter the San Rafael Community Center on Tuesday evening. Chairs were spaced six feet apart. "Large signs" and "banners" were declared verboten. Questions for Huffman were to be submitted online or on written forms prior to the show.

The town hall was a carefully planned effort to control not only the possibility of Covid infection, but the content of questions and the media presence. Shortly before the event, Huffman aides barred a television reporter from EnviroNews from entering, according to EnviroNews. They allowed a cameraman from Fox News KTVU to enter, however.

Former Sen. Harry Reid reveals the reasons why the government hid UFOs from the American people for so long

What was once a crackpot conversation among mocked believers has now gone mainstream. Speaking to NPR, former Nevada Sen. Harry Reid explained why the U.S. military has been hiding the sightings of UFOs for 70 years.

"The reason we didn't hear more about them is because the military kept it all secret until very recently," Reid explained. "We don't know what they are, but we don't know what they aren't either. We just don't know. That's the way I look at it. We know now, without any hesitancy that they exist."
