A mainstream Republican is facing off against a Hitler-quoting first-term Republican in a newly drawn Illinois congressional district.

Rep. Rodney Davis has represented a swing district in central Illinois since 2012 as one of the GOP's more moderate lawmakers, but the state lost a House seat after the 2020 census and redrew its congressional map to place him in a primary battle against hardcore conservative Rep. Mary Miller -- which drove the veteran lawmaker to the right, reported The Daily Beast.

Undercover feds arrest Nazi-loving intel contractor for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 insurrection

A Naval reservist who had held a top-level security clearance – along with Nazi sympathies – was arrested Wednesday on misdemeanor charges in connection with the January 6 riot, the Washington Post reported.

In court filings unsealed today, federal prosecutors argued that Hatchet M. Speed posed an “alarming” threat to public safety, the Post reported. Speed faces charges of illegal entry, disorderly conduct and parading in the U.S. Capitol.

On Thursday evening, CBS News Chief Election and Campaign Correspondent Robert Costa posted a January 11th, 2021 email sent by United States Representative Mo Brooks (R-Alabama) to then-Special Assistant to the President and Oval Office Operations Coordinator Molly Michael on behalf of himself and congressional allies with instructions from former President Donald Trump on how they should request pardons for their roles in the January 6th, 2021 attempted coup.

The extraordinary memo was texted to CBS by Brooks and contains numerous typos as well as references to constitutional clauses that do not exist.
