Former President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed that he was providing financial aid to some of the people charged in relation to the January 6 insurrection, according to Business Insider.

There are more than 900 Jan. 6 attackers who are facing charges from the Justice Department and of those over 370 have pleaded guilty to their role.

Donald Trump has vacillated between attorney/client privilege to executive privilege and at times he merely says "privilege" as the justification that the FBI shouldn't have access to the government documents he retained when he left the White House.

Former Justice Department lawyer Harry Litman explained that Trump's recent rant of executive privilege makes it clear that the game is over. At the same time, none of the information that was revealed by the recent Justice Department response would have been available without Trump's demand for the special master. Over and over, Trump appears to miscalculate and the Justice Department appears to be several steps ahead of him.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough offered some free legal advice to Donald Trump after the Department of Justice found the top-secret documents he took home from the White House.

The former president's attorney Alina Habba admitted on Fox News that Trump "frequently" had guests in the office where he stored some of the classified materials he had refused to return to the government, and the "Morning Joe" host said the former president was being undermined by his own legal team.

Former President Donald Trump has asked one of the judges he appointed to assign a special master to sort through some of the classified documents he stashed at Mar-A-Lago, but a Florida prosecutor said there's no fair review that would satisfy the former president's supporters.

The Department of Justice has argued that a special master isn't necessary, because investigators had already filtered documents that might be covered by executive or attorney-client privilege, but District Court Judge Aileen Cannon will decide Thursday whether to grant Trump's request -- which experts say would delay but not derail the investigation.

Former CIA officer Sue Gorden, who also served as the Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, explained to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace that one of the most dangerous things from Donald Trump's stolen document scandal is that foreign adversaries know that there is access to classified information simply hanging out there for their taking.

"The problem we have here is that depending on what agenda issues forth, he has had at his disposal for a long period of time information that if he used that information to advance an agenda item, it couches devastating consequence to national security," said Gordon. "But I can't think of a simpler way to say why I think that this moment is so difficult, and that's because there's no justification — and knowing who he is — and that he doesn't fully understand — but he may not decide to protect if he wanted to do something different. This is a tough situation. I am glad that we have worked so hard to recover the information, but I fear that it has been in essentially the public domain for a long time."

The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress and the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election is investigating financial aspects of Donald Trump's rally and the subsequent violence at the Capitol. But Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said that there is more than just those pieces of the probe.

Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace's "Deadline White House" on Wednesday, Lofgren explained there is also a concern about Trump paying the legal fees of some of the witnesses who appeared.
