There were 150 people killed in 400 shootings over the weekend

Weekend mass shootings are becoming more prevalent and the long holiday weekend was no exception.

CNN.com reported that over the Fourth of July weekend, there were 400 shootings resulting in 150 people killed. In 2019, the last year that Americans were living normal lives outside of COVID restrictions, there were 417 mass shootings. The FBI reports 2019 also had 16,425 murders.

Massachusetts police take eleven 'heavily armed men' into custody after they claim to 'not recognize our laws': report

According to a report from ABC News and a series of tweets from the Massachusetts State Police Twitter account, nine men described as "heavily-armed" were taken into custody early Saturday morning after police questioned them and they fled into the woods that led to a stand-off hours later. (UPDATE: Police later reported 11 men were taken into custody.)

The report states that, "The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when a state trooper came across a group of 8 to 10 people refueling on the side of the I-95 highway in Wakefield, a suburb of Boston. The group was dressed in military-style uniforms, carried tactical gear like body cameras and helmets and had long guns slung over their shoulders," adding that the men claimed "to be from a group that does not recognize our laws."

4 kids shot in Virginia shooting: report

Police in Norfolk, Virginia announced on Friday that four juveniles were shot following an altercation.

"Police say the victims are a 6-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy," WAVY-TV reports. "One of the victims, a 6-year-old girl, was shot in the stomach and is in surgery – according to her uncle. She was originally reported to have life-threatening injuries, however, police say she is now stable."

Suspect in police shooting was ready to shoot 'any cop that stopped him': Florida sheriff

Authorities in Florida have launched a manhunt after the shooting of a police officer.

"Othal Wallace, the man accused of shooting Daytona Beach Police Officer Jayson Raynor Wednesday night, was likely to try to kill any law enforcement officer he encountered, said Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood. Wallace, 29, is accused of shooting Raynor in the head. Raynor is now fighting for his life at Halifax Health Medical Center. Wallace is on the run, with hundreds of officers searching for him," The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
