WASHINGTON — Brielle Robinson couldn’t get her dad back on her 9th birthday Thursday, but she did get a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Sgt. Heath Robinson, her grandmother said, and a bill passed in his name to help thousands of other veterans sickened and dying from toxic burn pits. Robinson, a former medic, got a rare form of lung cancer in 2017 after serving in Iraq, on the same base as President Joe Biden’s son, Beau, 10 years earlier. Robinson died in 2020, fighting not just against his illnesses, but against military bureaucracy and for legislation that would spare other mi...

'Finish the job': Former RNC official calls on Mike Pence to testify before J6 Committee

On Thursday, writing for The Bulwark, former Republican Party staffer Tim Miller called on former Vice President Mike Pence to testify before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"'We are fortunate for Mike Pence’s courage ... thanks to Mike Pence our democracy withstood Donald Trump’s scheme,' said the Democratic committee chairman Benny [sic] Thompson," wrote Miller. "Another Democrat on the committee, Pete Aguilar, said Pence withstood an onslaught of pressure and was 'true to his oath to protect and defend the constitution' "... Amidst all of this lavish praise of Pence, and the compelling, if fawning, testimony from his own counsel, Greg Jacob, the proceedings felt like they had a phantom limb. Vice President Pence himself."

Clarence Thomas should resign over his wife’s efforts to overturn Trump loss, NJ lawmaker says

One of Congress’ fiercest critics of former President Donald Trump called Thursday for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to resign due to his wife’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. called it “one of the worst breaches of trust ever seen in our court system.” Pascrell, D-9th Dist., said he was reacting to reports that Ginni Thomas actively worked to block the certification of Joe Biden’s election as president, corresponding with then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and lawyer John Eastman, who championed a discredited theory that the Vice President Mike...

'Just insane’: George Conway calls for Trump lawyer to be ‘disbarred and prosecuted’ after new revelations

Reacting to recent news reports suggesting that Trump lawyer John Eastman may have had a back channel of communication to the Supreme Court as he worked to invalidate the 2020 election results, Washington Post contributor George Conway said on CNN that the attorney should be "disbarred" and "prosecuted."

Conway went on to say that he thinks Eastman "was just blowing smoke in some of these emails" since all avenues to get the Supreme Court to consider bogus voter fraud claims had been exhausted, but the content of the emails, where Eastman allegedly suggested that violence in the streets would convince SCOTUS to see things Trump's way was "appalling."

Mike Pence had his chance to rid America of Trump on Jan. 6 and blew it: conservative

In a column for the Daily Beast, Cato Institute editor Andy Craig suggested that, while Mike Pence deserves a modicum of respect for not allowing Donald Trump to bully him into an attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election, he missed his chance to put a knife in Donald Trump's political future.

As Craig notes, the 25th Amendment to the Constitution was made just for cases like Donald Trump where he could have been removed from office on that day after he had already 'usurped' the now-former president's authority as the Capitol building was being stormed.

Pence turned down Trump’s invitations to Mar-A-Lago after leaving the White House

The House select committee hearings have highlighted the tension between Donald Trump and Mike Pence, and their relationship will occupy the spotlight in the third public hearing.
