Felony accusations against Trump are 'as deadly serious as it gets': Neal Katyal

Former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal on Wednesday broke down the significance of a 221-page legal filing submitted by the Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"Lawyers for the House panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol said in a court filing Wednesday that former president Donald Trump and key allies engaged in potential crimes during their effort to overturn the election: conspiring to defraud the United States and obstructing an official congressional proceeding — the counting of electoral votes," The Washington Post reported. "The alleged criminal acts were raised by the committee in a California federal court filing challenging conservative lawyer John Eastman’s refusal to turn over thousands of emails the panel has requested related to his role in trying to persuade Vice President Mike Pence to reject electors from states won by Joe Biden."

January 6 Committee will seek to nullify attorney-client privilege between Trump and John Eastman: experts

On Wednesday, the House January 6 Committee released a bombshell court filing arguing that they have sufficient evidence to refer former President Donald Trump for criminal charges of obstruction of Congress and conspiracy to defraud the United States for his role in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

According to multiple legal experts, the report lays the groundwork to, among other things, persuade a court to nullify Trump's attorney-client privilege with attorney John Eastman, who drafted the memo laying out a plan to throw out presidential electors in states Joe Biden won, and who is currently under an ethics investigation by the State Bar of California.

Yacht seizures are just the start — every Russian oligarch asset is fair game for seizure: White House official

On Wednesday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," Deputy National Security Adviser Daleep Singh told anchor Erin Burnett that the German seizure of a Russian oligarch's superyacht is just the start of a concerted effort to bleed Vladimir Putin's allies of all their assets to punish the Kremlin for the invasion of Ukraine.

"I know you sanctioned Putin," said Burnett. "That's obviously important to do, but questionable impact because he's not exposed overseas, but his oligarchs are. One of them was sanctioned by the European Union on Monday ... they've seized his most prized possession. It was docked in Hamburg. Who knows what they were doing. It is a 512-foot yacht. Custom-built. Valued at nearly $600 million. It requires a crew of 96 to even sail this thing. The Germans have seized it. Is the United States prepared to do more like this, in New York and Florida, and taking it away from them?"

OAN’s reporter subpoenaed by Jan. 6 committee

As stridently as Fox News and Fox Business have supported former President Donald Trump, their competitors One America News and Newsmax TV have jumped through hoops to show that they are even more pro-Trump. OAN’s Christina Bobb, following the 2020 presidential election, went out of her way to promote bogus election conspiracy theories — and Bobb now finds herself facing a subpoena from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s select committee on the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson reported that the committee had subpoenaed six more people, all of them attorneys — including Bobb. Jackson told her colleague Garrett Haake that Bobb and five other attorneys subpoenaed are not “really household names” but were “all involved, the committee says, with, for example, the effort to seize voting machines, from the Trump Administration, in various states after 2020.”

Jan. 6 panel increasingly focused on GOP lawmakers' coordination with Trump before insurrection

Recent court filings show the House select committee has been focused on investigating whether Republican lawmakers helped Donald Trump try to overturn his election loss.

The panel asked right-wing attorney John Eastman to prioritize turning over emails that included the names of 14 GOP lawmakers -- including Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) -- and their staffs, although the committee's chairman Bennie Thompson expressed hope his colleagues would come forward voluntarily rather than possibly face subpoena, reported Politico.

'I am angry': Lauren Boebert and her GOP enablers get blasted by a US Army veteran

Tuesday night as President Joe Biden talked about U.S. war dead and the dangerous health effects soldiers face while on the battlefield, Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert shouted, "13 of them," in an apparent reference to the 13 service members who died during the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan last year.

Biden ignored Boebert’s comments, going on to say, “One of those soldiers was my son, Major Beau Biden. I don’t know for sure if the burn pit that he lived near was the cause of his brain cancer, and disease of so many other troops. But I am committed to find out everything we can.”
