NYC mayor rants about not being told sooner about arsenic in drinking water of public housing complex

NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams questioned Monday why members of his own administration didn’t inform him sooner about arsenic being discovered in the drinking water at a massive New York City Housing Authority complex in Manhattan. According to a city government official, NYCHA brass first found out this past Thursday that elevated levels of the dangerous chemical had been detected in the water at the Riis Houses in the East Village. But, speaking to the Daily News on Monday morning, Adams claimed he wasn’t told of the arsenic until the next day, suggesting a communication breakdown may be to bla...

Marco Rubio mocked as 'silly' for false claim Trump's stolen documents are just about 'storage'

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has remained mostly quiet through the 2022 election, but he came out of hiding to comment on former President Donald Trump's stolen document scandal for the first time. It has been several weeks after the search warrant was issued by a federal judge for the documents.

Rubio's excuse for Trump was that the only issue was that the documents weren't stored properly. That is not only false, but it's also unclear if Rubio has been paying attention to the news while he's been on vacation from the Senate.

'My first-year law students would have written a better opinion': Neal Katyal slams judge's Trump ruling

On Monday, former solicitor general and Georgetown Law professor Neal Katyal took to Twitter to dissect all of the problems with District Judge Aileen Cannon's decision granting former President Donald Trump's request to have a special master review the materials the FBI seized at Mar-a-Lago as part of the investigation into improperly removed classified information.

"This special master opinion is so bad it’s hard to know where to begin," wrote Katyal. "She says Biden hasn’t weighed in on whether docs protected by Exec Privilege. Nonsense. The archives letter (which DOJ submitted to the Judge) makes it clear current President thinks none of this is privileged. Archivist says it is 'not a close' question."

According to The Jewish News of Northern California, Jon Minadeo Jr., a prominent anti-Semitic social media activist, was arrested in Poland after a gleeful photo shoot at the gates of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi death camp.

Trump judges don't believe in the law, facts or logic: Elie Mystal tears down the intelligence of Judge Cannon

MSNBC's Joy Reid started her Labor Day show with Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell and legal experts Elie Mystal and Glenn Kirschner talking about the bizarre ruling from U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon. She isn't the judge presiding over the Donald Trump document case, but she inserted herself into the case in another district, and ultimately helped the president who appointed her.

Legal experts have already indicated there are some legally unsound pieces of her ruling that likely won't make it through further court systems unless the 11th Circuit or Supreme Court intends to change the law dramatically.

New California law to let labor council set pay and working conditions for fast-food restaurants

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Labor Day signed a new law that would create a first-in-the-nation labor council to set wages and working standards for fast-food workers. Under the new law, known as the Fast Food Accountability and Standards Recovery Act, a fast-food council consisting of employers, employees and government officials would negotiate over working conditions for an industry that largely is not represented by unions. The council’s regulations would apply to any chain restaurant with at least 100 location in the United States. It will also cap minimum wages at...

Why did Trump choose to showcase a Nazi sympathizer as Jan. 6 prisoner at Pennsylvania rally: CNN reporter asks

Among the people who spoke at Donald Trump's rally on Saturday was a woman named Cynthia, who spoke out on the plight of her nephew who attended the Jan. 6 attack on Congress. It turns out, however, her nephew is a Nazi sympathizer. The larger question, however, is how he became Trump's poster-boy at the rally.

Speaking about Cynthia Hughes, CNN's Zachary Cohen told Jim Acosta that she was leaving out a lot of details in her speech to Pennsylvania. At the same time, there were plenty of Jan. 6 attackers who could have been highlighted at the event that were everyday people who were caught up in the crowd and who got light sentences. That isn't who this was.
