Minneapolis police were part of another officer-involved shooting when a suspect was shot and killed Wednesday evening during a traffic stop about two miles from the site where police killed George Floyd.

The man was suspected of committing a felony, police spokesperson John Elder said that "gunfire was exchanged." There was also a woman in the car but she was unharmed, MPR news reported.

With the announcement that Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) will attempt to overthrow the 2020 election with U.S. Senate Republicans, President Donald Trump decided to come home from his Mar-a-Lago vacation early.

According to CNN.com, Trump's annual New Year's Eve party, which was supposed to feature Trump as the big draw, will now be mere followers and supporters. The Senate vote isn't supposed to take place until Jan. 6, so it's unknown why Trump is leaving a week early, particularly when he has an event where he could hold court.

On Wednesday, pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood took to Twitter to attack Chief Justice John Roberts, suggesting a wild conspiracy theory that he may have been involved in, or had advance warning of, Justice Antonin Scalia's death in 2016.

"You are recorded discussing Justice Scalia's successor before date of his sudden death," said Wood. "How did you know Scalia was going to die?"

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is taking up the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election from the U.S. Senate while Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) plans to do it in the House. Yale historian and expert on authoritarianism, Timothy Snyder, explained on MSNBC Wednesday that it wouldn't be hyperbolic to call it an attempted coup d'etat. He also noted that Hawley's attempts are an attack on people of color.

Snyder, who literally wrote the book on tyranny, explained that the worst part about Hawley and his ilk is that it's a "big lie" and that they all know it.

On CNN Wednesday, presidential historian Douglas Brinkley suggested that outgoing President Donald Trump feels "jealousy" over the fact that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would outlast his own political career if Republicans win at least one of the Senate runoffs in Georgia in January.

"What is your reaction to the first senator, Josh Hawley, on the Republican side announcing he will object to the results of the election when Congress meets next week?" asked anchor Jim Acosta. "I'm guessing, as a presidential historian, we've never seen anything like this before."

On Monday, writing for The Washington Post, columnist Brian Klaas tore into outgoing President Donald Trump for a final round of foreign military sales in the Middle East that function as a "parting gift to dictators" — and suggested he could even be using them to set up a private quid pro quo down the road in his post-presidency.

"All three regimes have abysmal human rights records," wrote Klaas. "Saudi Arabia has beheaded dissidents, subjugated women and detained female activists who have pushed for reforms, and murdered and dismembered Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi. The United Arab Emirates is home to torture, arbitrary detention and forced disappearances. Egypt's dictatorship has carried out extrajudicial killings and has tortured activists."

"Sore loser" Josh Hawley, Republican Missouri Senator, revealed Wednesday that he's going to be the one willing to try and stop the democratic election of President-elect Joe Biden when it comes time for the Electoral College to finalize the 2020 election.

One attorney explained to those giddy over the possibility that President Donald Trump will still remain the president that it simply isn't going to happen.

On Wednesday's edition of CNN's "The Situation Room," former Republican election lawyer Ben Ginsberg, a key player in the Bush v. Gore litigation, tore into the move by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) to challenge the election results in several states when Congress gathers to certify the Electoral College.

"Senator Josh Hawley plans to reject these election results when congress meets next week, and we're hearing some updated information just in the last several minutes that Hawley plans to challenge the results coming from multiple states," said anchor Jim Acosta. "And so this could drag out the process all day long apparently next week. He's considering this from what we understand, what the senator is saying at this point. But this has zero percent chance of success, isn't that right?"

Americans are asking why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hates Americans so much that he's refusing to allow the $2,000 COVID-19 stimulus checks bill to even come up for a vote. Five Republicans have indicated they support the checks, so it would clearly pass and funds could be sent out to Americans just in time to give a jolt to the U.S. economy. But for some reason, McConnell won't allow a vote on the checks alone. He's trying to kill the bill by adding amendments to it that make people not want to vote on it.

It's the reason that #MitchMcConnellHatesAmericans was trending nationally on Twitter in the United States Wednesday afternoon.

The current COVID-19 stimulus relief signed into law will give millions of Americans up to $600, with a new measure passed by House Democrats raising that to $2,000.

But the House Democratic plan doesn't just pay more — as The Washington Post revealed, it would also result in 8.8 million more families getting money who, under the original stimulus, wouldn't be eligible for anything at all. That's because of how the means testing in the stimulus works.

Bloomberg News reporter Steven T. Dennis explained in a Twitter thread that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) lied on the Senate floor Wednesday when he claimed that the stimulus checks would only benefit the rich friends of Democrats.

"McConnell earlier blocked a unanimous consent request again on the $2,000 checks, saying the Senate wouldn't be 'bullied' into passing them," Dennis said about the afternoon debate in the chamber.

MSNBC commentator John Heilemann explained how the Republican Party was ripe for the taking from someone like President Donald Trump.

Host Nicolle Wallace, on Wednesday, explained that the conservative Wall Street Journal blamed Trump if Democrats win in Georgia next week in the runoff elections. But the reality is that Trump is only a symptom of a larger diseased GOP.
