Fox & Friends worries about ‘shrapnel’ from Trump demonizing media: ‘It does a lot of damage’
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade criticized President Donald Trump for calling media "the enemy of the people" because it "does a lot of damage" to unintended targets.
On Tuesday's edition of Fox & Friends, co-host Steve Doocy noted that Trump has insisted that he is only talking about "fake news" when he calls media outlets "the enemy of the people."
"I really wish he would lose that term," Kilmeade lamented. "It doesn't help anybody. It doesn't push back on the media that he wants to push back on. And I think it gets too many other people shrapnel with that statement."
"The press isn't the enemy of the people," he continued. "Some of the things they say and the way they stack their shows, the president could look at [that] as though they are targeting him and he's got a case."
Kilmeade added: "But that broad statement does a lot of damage."
"He doesn't like them," Doocy agreed. "But are they enemy of the people? I don't think so."
