Former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi explained on Sunday that a recent statement by President Donald Trump led him to believe that the ex-Republican leader knows that something is about to happen in his ongoing legal problems.

Trump released a statement Saturday attacking attorneys general, law enforcement, and others he said are out of control. It tipped off Figliuzzi that something was going on.

When the House Select Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 began its work, former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman confessed that he never expected it to go very far. But in the past several weeks, the committee has refused to stand down against former officials in President Donald Trump's White House.

The committee has already held Steve Bannon in contempt, and the Justice Department's grand jury voted to indict him. The committee and full Congress has now voted to hold Mark Meadows in contempt.

Speaking to MSNBC on Sunday, Dr. Mary Trump said that she thinks her uncle should be forced to testify before the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"He's a private American citizen," Dr. Trump explained. "He needs to answer to his alleged crimes. He needs to explain his participation in the incredibly serious events. There was an armed insurrection on Jan. 6 in this country, and we need to know what role he played. he needs to be held accountable if they indeed find that he was complicit in any way. And we also need to know what his response will be. Is he going to plead the fifth? Is he going to show up? Is he not going to show up and be held in contempt? Last I checked, Donald believes that people who plead the Fifth are guilty. It would be very, very good to know how he responds and what that response says about what kind of trouble he thinks he's in."

CNN's Jim Acosta called out Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) after he revealed he wouldn't support President Joe Biden's Build Back Better plan that would give Americans the child tax credit, tech neutral energy tax incentives and control of drug prices, as Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) explained in his letter to his West Virginia colleague.

Speaking to CNN political analyst John Avlon, Acosta noted, "I do think that Joe Manchin did mislead a lot of people in his party for many many months," said Acosta. "And yes, he may represent a MAGA state now and so on but not everybody in West Virginia has a houseboat."

In a conversation about Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) destroying the Build Back Better bill, Lincoln Project adviser Tara Setmayer explained that the White House should use its power to pressure him.

The White House said they've been trying to work with Manchin for months but noted he doesn't have the "courage" to support things like the child tax credit, which has overwhelming support. Sen Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told CNN's Jake Tapper that they should vote on the bill and force Manchin and Republicans to be on the record that they refuse to support the legislation. Setmayer explained that such a strategy clearly isn't working and urged another approach.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) prompted rage among progressives after he told Fox News that he's tried everything he could but can't come to an agreement over the Build Back Better plan. The White House said that it wasn't what Manchin told them when they last spoke, but he's refusing to speak to them now.

The bill, known as the human infrastructure bill, would help families pay for caregivers, make the child tax credit permanent, add vision and dental care to Medicare and Medicaid and other benefits.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough bashed Republican candidates for refusing to admit Joe Biden won the presidential election.

All five candidates at a GOP gubernatorial debate refused to state the president was constitutionally elected, and the "Morning Joe" host said Republicans were too terrified of Donald Trump's right-wing base nearly a year after the Jan. 6 insurrection to admit the truth.

CNN host Brianna Keilar recalled group projects in school where some do all the work and someone who doesn't do anything takes all of the credit. That's what she thinks Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and other Republicans are doing now that funding from the COVID-19 relief bill is being distributed to states.

In a CNN segment, John Avlon recalled that no Republicans voted for the American Rescue Plan, the bill President Joe Biden and Democrats passed in the early days of 2021. Those funds paid for significant investments in a local airport.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6 could ultimately find former President Donald Trump was criminally liable for those hurt during the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Swalwell answered questions about the text messages uncovered on the phone of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. He also noted that all of the information being uncovered now, including the thousands of pages of documents and text messages from Meadows, weren't handed over to the House during the second impeachment.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough ripped Ivy League-educated Republicans for acting "stupid" in a bid to appeal to Donald Trump's conservative base.

The "Morning Joe" staged a mock telethon to raise money for acting lessons for GOP elected officials like Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) because he's not convinced by their "populist" personas.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows was voted in contempt of Congress in the Jan. 6 select committee Monday evening, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Justice Department will indict him.

According to former federal prosecutor Joyce White Vance, however, the DOJ is likely to move forward with the indictment.
