Rick Scott's priorities 'strike fear in the heart of some Republicans': report

According to a report from Politico, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) is aggressively taking the lead in setting the Republican agenda while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has receded into the background hoping that the next midterm election will be a referendum on President Joe Biden.

Scott, as head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, is currently serving his first term in the Senate and wants his colleagues to follow his battle plan in hopes of taking back the U.S. Senate, which Politico's Burgess Everett writes could be risky for the GOP.

This Michigan 'freedom convoy' was a complete dud

A right-wing protest against COVID-19 mandates and supporting election fraud conspiracies at the Michigan Capitol building off the blockades at the border that shut down the Ambassador Bridge for a week has failed to gain traction for the last week.
Around 10 people showed up to the Capitol building Sunday afternoon for what was billed as the “Lansing Freedom Convoy.” The group has called on “all our good men” to park their cars in downtown Lansing and demand “honest elections,” “a voter-run audit and canvass” and for police to “arrest and charge all criminals in government, media and medicine.”

There currently are few COVID-19 protocols in Michigan, with no statewide mask mandates since June 2021 and every county lifting its requirement.

The group has also been hosting daily “slow rolls” around the Capitol building last week, but these daily events also only had a small number of participants.

During a recent appearance on Lindell's broadcast platform, Lindell-TV, McInerney suggested that the Russian troop build-up is a ruse.

Wisconsin district attorney urged to go after fake Trump electors

Exactly one year after filing a complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Commission over the actions of the 10 false electors who claimed to represent Wisconsin at the Electoral College, the two lead attorneys at Law Forward wrote a letter to Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, urging him to prosecute these false electors.

The 10 false electors are Carol Brunner, Mary Buestrin, Darryl Carson, Bill Feehan, Scott Grabins, Andrew Hitt, Kathy Kiernen, Kelly Ruh, Robert Spindell, and Pam Travis. (Spindell is a member of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, and has not recused himself from Law Forward’s complaint to the commission about the false electors.)

‘What a humiliating self-own’: GOP brutally mocked for their ‘sad’ President’s Day attack on Biden

In commemoration of President's Day, the official Twitter account for the Republican National Committee posted an image disparaging President Joe Biden.

The image wished past U.S. Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Calvin Coolidge, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump a happy President's Day -- but in the middle of the image was a picture of Biden with a mask on with the caption, "Not You."

CNN's Laura Coates dares the right to come after Joe Biden's Supreme Court pick

"The pursuit of justice creates injustice," is the paradoxical line that opens CNN legal expert Laura Coates' bestselling new book, "Just Pursuit: A Black Prosecutor's Fight for Fairness." I spoke to Coates for "Salon Talks" about her fight for fairness as a federal prosecutor, how she has handled criticism as a prosecutor and her take on the prospective Black female Supreme Court justice President Biden has promised to nominate.

"I always found it to be very shocking that people have the impression that you could either be an advocate and proponent for civil rights or a prosecutor," Coates said. "You have to be both and you have to wield the discretion that you have with an eye towards what is fair." She added that the true goal of a prosecutor should not be how many convictions you rack up, but how strongly you fight for fairness, because that, as she explained, "is the predicate for any real justice system." But in that pursuit of fairness, injustice can emerge.
