President Donald Trump's chiefs of staff appear to conflict with each other over the tales from their time in the White House.

In Mark Meadows's new book, he claims that Trump never said that "Hitler did great things, as was printed in Michael C. Bender’s book Frankly, We Did Win This Election. I knew that he hadn’t."

Writing in his new book, Mark Meadows recounted an incident in which President Donald Trump had ordered that protesters be cleared out of a public park in Washington, D.C.

"Upstairs in the Residence, President Trump was growing anxious," the book describes. "He had given an order for the park to be cleared, and it was not being followed. The various law enforcement agencies that were supposed to be under the command of Bill Barr were clearly not communicating with one another, and it did not seem that a single arrest had yet been made."

CNN's Manu Raju reported Monday evening that Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is at work on a plot to avert the next government shutdown.

The plan, however, would have Democrats cast a vote to raise the debt ceiling. It's something Republicans did three times under former President Donald Trump, adding over $7.8 trillion to the deficit. McConnell assumes that the vote would be toxic for Democrats, but the reality is that shutting down the government would be toxic for Republicans.

President Joe Biden has nothing to do with the House Select Committee on Jan. 6, but that doesn't mean Steve Bannon isn't going to try and drag him into it.

Bannon refused to appear before the House when subpoenaed, and instead of using the House to fight against the subpoena, Bannon is choosing another route. Speaking to Fox News on Sunday evening about his new self-published picture book, former President Donald Trump confessed that he had to fire former FBI Director James Comey otherwise he would have lost the presidency.

"Had I not fired Comey, you might not be talking to me right now about a beautiful book about four years in the White House, and we'll see about the future," Trump said.

New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Noah Weiland sat down with Mark Meadows to discuss his upcoming book in which he reveals former President Donald Trump received a positive COVID-19 test days before his first debate with President Joe Biden.

Promoting the story on Twitter, Haberman said that Meadows went into great detail about former President Donald Trump's health. The piece explained that Trump "has long been fearful of appearing weak," and in the past, he's tried to hide details about just how sick he was.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) announced that he is quitting Congress ahead of the 2022 election and is reportedly going to work for former President Donald Trump and the media company he started.

Abandoning the seat before the election means that Nunes's constituents must pay for a special election and they won't have any member of congress in the seat until that person is elected.

Appearing on MSNBC on Monday, former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi warned that Jan. 6 was nothing more than a dry run for what will be another far worse attack on the U.S. from within.

"You know, about a year ago, if you had asked me about this or presented me this piece in The Atlantic I would have called this what intelligence officials call an over the horizon threat — something that's coming, something we should be aware of and think about as a future threat," he explained, referring to a new series in The Atlantic about the threats to American democracy. "But the horizon is here. This has been a dress rehearsal for at least a year for radical extremism."

MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin this week probed the radicalization of Rosanne Boyland, who died on Jan. 6, 2021 at the Capitol riots, on his latest podcast episode.

The new episode of the podcast, American Radical, dropped Monday and Mohyeldin interviews Boyland's family to ask how she went from an ordinarily happy woman to a quiet, scared conspiracy theorist. Family members recall her presence at Christmas in 2020 but noted she was on her phone the whole time and not engaging with them.

Ahead of her special on the Charlottesville Nazis and white supremacists, CNN reporter Elle Reeve told Jim Acosta about the interviews she conducted with those who lost lawsuits after the march.

According to Reeve, the men have all explained that they weren't at fault for anything that happened in Charlottesville.

As part of the new CNN special on Charlottesville, one neo-Nazi revealed that he's been kicked off of Twitter at least three times. But he keeps coming back and he does it pretending to be a Black woman.

Matthew Heimbach spoke to Elle Reeve about his efforts promoting white supremacy and Nazism and that Charlottesville was a big part of that, even if he never made a public speech.
