MSNBC host hilariously mocks Trump for starting 1995-style LiveJournal as his new 'social media platform'

In a hilarious moment on MSNBC Tuesday evening, host Ari Melber ridiculed President Donald Trump's new "social media platform," that he said is nothing more than a blog from the 1990s.

"Donald Trump, after talking about creating a social media platform, instead of doing that or starting an app or a tech company, instead he's launched a blog," said Melber with a smirk. "It is a section of his website that operates like a WordPress blog. And so, I'm not here to make Donald Trump look ridiculous. Today he's done that all by himself. They didn't need to pretend or lie that they were going to create an app or a tech platform. If they put millions into it, that would have been an interesting thing. What does it tell you that he is going straight BlogSpot, straight LiveJournal, straight back to '95, baby."

Liz Cheney ouster will backfire for Republicans — and worsen their problems in the suburbs: Former Bush staffer

On Tuesday's edition of CNN's "The Lead," former George W. Bush White House staffer Margaret Hoover warned Republicans that their move to push out Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from GOP leadership would only accelerate their slide with suburban women voters.

"You suggested that there's sexism afoot here," said anchor Jake Tapper. "The counterargument is going to be — if they replace Cheney with Elise Stefanik, how can you say that. They are looking at a person who is promoting a lie rather than the woman who is willing to stand up for the truth."

Tennessee Republican defends counting slaves as 3/5ths of a person in floor speech

In the Tennessee House of Representatives Tuesday, Knoxville Republican Rep. Justin Lafferty defended the three-fifths compromise — the constitutional provision counting enslaved persons as 3/5ths of a person — and claimed that the purpose of the provision was to bring about the end of slavery down the line.

"The three-fifths compromise was a direct effort to ensure that Southern states never got the population necessary to continue the practice of slavery everywhere else in the country," said Lafferty. "What does that mean? Appropriation based on population. We've got nine state representatives. By limiting the number of population in the count, they specifically limited the number of representatives that would be available in the slave-owning states, and they did it for the purpose of ending slavery."

Rudy Giuliani's advisers are privately complaining that Trump needs to help more with his legal costs: report

Giuliani's advisers want the Trump campaign to tap into the $250 million it raised in the weeks after the election to help Giuliani with his legal expenses.

Prosecutor of Bill Cosby: Matt Gaetz ‘should be very worried’ about possible Greenberg plea deal

Former prosecutor Kristen Gibbons Feden is an expert in prosecuting sex crimes, most notably she was the one who helped get a conviction against Bill Cosby. So, when she told MSNBC's Ayman Mohyeldin that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) "should be very worried," she would know.

According to Feden, if Gaetz pal Joel Greenberg "cooperates with prosecutors, if he gives statements consistent with" his letter "it will establish two for the prosecutors with the sex crimes against Gaetz. First, that he gave money in exchange for sex and second that sexual contact was with a minor. This wouldn't necessarily get the prosecutors over the finish line, right? Because they would still need to establish that this crime relates to interstate commerce which is a necessary precondition for federal involvement."

Former FBI official anticipates 'Rudy is going to be hung out to dry' as investigation advances

Last week former attorney to President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, was raided by the FBI as part of an investigation into work he allegedly did on behalf of foreign countries. Speaking to MSNBC on Monday, former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi and former senior prosecutor to Robert Mueller, Andrew Weissmann, explained why nothing about the story is good news for Giuliani.

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace began by saying that major news outlets are withdrawing their reports that Giuliani was briefed by the FBI about his actions being possibly illegal. In fact, a briefing was prepared with the anticipation of giving it to Giuliani, but it was never actually conducted as a debate spread through the Justice Department about whether it would compromise the investigation. It all happened in the final months of the Trump administration, the AP reported last week, before Attorney General Merrick Garland took over.
