The Republican-majority U.S. House of Representatives Friday morning passed HR 5, the "Parents' Bill of Rights," legislation similar to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' laws that have led to book bans and targeting of LGBTQ children.

The bill passed 213-208, with 14 Members not voting. All yes votes were from Republicans only. Five Republicans joined Democrats to vote no.

Rick Wilson: GOP primary is over and DeSantis is being 'nuked into a radioactive puddle by MAGA'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has long been the most formidable potential challenger to former President Donald Trump, but former Republican strategist Rick Wilson believes that the 2024 Republican primary is already over.

In a new essay, Wilson writes that DeSantis has been getting "nuked into a radioactive puddle by MAGA" in the wake of his attempt to walk back a widely criticized statement that the war in Ukraine was simply a "territorial dispute" between two foreign countries with little of strategic interest to the United States.

DeSantis' struggles to be taken seriously ridiculed by former GOP governor

During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," newly-hired contributor John Kasich (R-OH) laughed at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for his most recent stumble as he appears to be in the process of establishing his credibility as a possible GOP presidential candidate.

Speaking with the "Morning Joe' co-hosts, the former GOP Ohio governor hammered some of his fellow Republicans for not backing Ukraine and for parroting Russian talking points before he was asked about the Florida governor who changed his tune on Ukraine just days ago.

Trump fundraising showing 'bad signs' as the walls close in: Morning Joe

Reacting to a report from Puck News, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough claimed the tepid response from Donald Trump donors after he sent out a fundraising appeal with his legal problems mounting should be causing panic amongst his re-election campaign staff.

Late Thursday, Puck's Tara Palmieri reported, "The $1.5 million that Donald Trump has allegedly raised off his looming indictment appears to be causing some agitation within the former president’s orbit, likely because, as insiders will agree, $1.5 million isn’t actually a huge sum compared to his past scandal-adjacent fundraising blitzes," before adding, "his best fundraising days may be behind him."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Senate gave final approval Thursday to a bill creating universal school vouchers, and sent it to Gov. Ron DeSantis for his expected approval. 'Reprehensible' and 'disgraceful': House Democrat scorches GOP book bans and 'Parental Bill of Rights'

Far-right pundits at Fox News and Newsmax TV have had a lot to say about "cancel culture" and "woke" progressives they claim are trying to shut down conservatives they disagree with. And many Democrats, in response, have stressed that it is far-right MAGA Republicans — including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — who are trying to abolish, from public schools, books with gay or African-American themes that offend them. DeSantis has drawn criticism for banning an advance placement course on Black studies from Florida high schools.

One of the Democrats who is speaking out is Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Massachusetts). During a Thursday, March 23 speech on the U.S. House floor, McGovern slammed Republicans for pushing book bans in the name of a "Parental Bill of Rights." And he noted that a Florida teacher was "fired for exposing a book-banning spree at the hands of Ron DeSantis that would make the Chinese Communist Party blush."

'The party thinks it’s wildly unfair': GOP insiders triggered by DeSantis’ mild swipe at Trump

Although Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hasn't officially announced a 2024 presidential run, the far-right MAGA Republican certainly sounded like he was planning to run during a recent interview with television journalist Piers Morgan.

DeSantis, discussing the possibility of former President Donald Trump facing a criminal indictment in connection with alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of "pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office." But he also took a swipe at Trump, albeit a mild one.
