Republicans fail on the economy — and Americans are fine with raising taxes on corporations and the rich

President Joe Biden announced The American Family Plan this week that would help rebuild American infrastructure and help grow jobs and education in an effort to bring the U.S. into the 21st century.

During an MSNBC panel, reporters noted that Republicans have always won on issues around money and the economy, but that appears to be slipping as most Americans didn't see an impact from the GOP tax bill in 2017. At the same time, Republicans fought hard against Biden's COVID-19 stimulus package that gave additional payments to Americans making under $75,000 a year. It was a plan that former President Donald Trump attempted to pass, but Republicans were opposed to it.

'You can have boot licker Matt Gaetz — I’ll take Liz Cheney in a bar fight any day’: Ex-GOP official

A shocking expose in the New York Times revealed Thursday how wounded Republican men were when Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) stood up to former President Donald Trump. It began with caucus meeting in which Republicans decided not to punish Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for her first act that humiliated the GOP. The group then voted whether to keep Cheney in her leadership position, which she won, but only after male members whined about how emotional they felt that Cheney acted without consulting them.

Former Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA) walked through some of the battles happening on the ground in his state between the GOP and the far right.

Ron Johnson pressures Biden USPS nominees on whether they have been asked to fire Louis DeJoy

The Post Office became political last election when right before a number of Americans were voting by mail, Donald Trump's Postmaster General Louis DeJoy pulled out several sorting machines in major swing states. The mail was slowed dramatically, infuriating those who rely on USPS for important documents or prescription drugs.

CNN.com noted Thursday that Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) put nominees to the Post Office Board of Governors on the spot demanding that they reveal if they've been pressured to fire DeJoy. Portman even asked the three nominees, Anton Hajjar, Amber McReynolds and Ron Stroman, the question before his colleague asked the same question.

The View's Sunny Hostin unleashes on police who shoot Black children while taking white murderers to Burger King

Former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin unleashed on the unfairness of the way 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant was killed while white criminals who had shot and killed people were "thanked" by police officers or got to stop by a Burger King for a snack.

The conversation was sparked by CNN host Don Lemon, who agreed with the police that there was a knife in Bryant's hand and they had no way of knowing that she wouldn't kill someone. Others argue that the officer could have used a taser instead of opening fire on her with several bullets to the chest.

Trump's old 'half-wit' intelligence director ridiculed for not knowing where federal jobs are located

If there's one thing that former Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell has done since leaving office, it has called into question the "intelligence" portion of his previous job title.

Such was the case Wednesday when the long-time federal employee proclaimed that no state should have most of the federal jobs in it. He was talking about his reasons for opposing statehood for Washington, D.C., which comes up for a vote in the U.S. House Thursday.

Maddow: Al Qaeda used to instruct terrorists to ram their cars into crowds — just like GOP bills now legalize

Oklahoma and Florida legislatures have legalized running a car into a crowd of people if one feels "threatened." It's being called a get-out-of-jail-free card for white supremacists and terrorists who want to commit murder during a Black Lives Matter rally.

Ironically, Oklahoma experienced an incident in which a disgruntled student plowed into a crowd of people at the homecoming parade in 2015, killing two people. Oklahoma was also home to large, armed tea party rallies that could now be targeted thanks to the law. There are generally much larger and louder protests from the right-wing in Oklahoma than from Black Lives Matter protests.
