Chuck Schumer shuts down McConnell's attempt to stop Trump impeachment

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) let Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) know that he won't have a role in controlling the impeachment trial for President Donald Trump.

Schumer granted Republicans an extra two weeks to prepare for the trial against Trump, but the GOP took it a step further on Sunday, prompting the Democratic leader to shut McConnell down, BBC reporter Hugo Lowell reported.

Trump settles on a lawyer after struggling to find someone to represent him in impeachment trial

President Donald Trump has hired South Carolina lawyer Butch Bowers as his impeachment lawyer, Jake Sherman reported in the Punchbowl.

"Butch Bowers, who has represented two S.C. governors at ethics hearings, is not a stranger to impeachment proceedings," the Post and Courier said. "He worked for then-Gov. Mark Sanford when lawmakers considered impeaching him after he left the state to see his mistress in Argentina in 2009."

Minneapolis mayor trying to go after Trump for unpaid security bills

President Donald Trump's campaign committee is still active and soliciting funds. They raked in millions in the final months following the November election, claiming that the donations would go toward the Georgia election and Trump's legal fees to overthrow the election.
