Trump hopes to 'scare DeSantis out of running' with nonstop smears: report

Former President Donald Trump has already promoted smears accusing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis of being a "groomer," but apparently that's just the start of his all-out attack campaign against his potential top rival for the Republican presidential nomination.

Axios reports that Trump is plotting to ramp up his rhetorical assault on the Florida governor in the coming weeks on multiple fronts, ranging from his past support for raising the eligibility age for Medicare, to his support for arming Ukraine against Russian aggression, to his past as an apparent ally of former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).

'Emperor with no clothes': DeSantis mocked for being unable to say how he would handle Ukraine

Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis is frequently found standing before a podium, facing the cameras, attacking "woke" Democrats while promoting legislation some call fascist and pursuing an authoritarian agenda. But when asked by a reporter how he would handle the war in Ukraine as President and Commander-in Chief, the far-right Republican was suddenly unable to offer a response.

The New York Times on Thursday detailed DeSantis' media strategy as he appears to ramp up a likely White House run: he is only talking to Rupert Murdoch's people.

Florida Republican blasted over 'ridiculous' bill to obliterate all traces of Democrats

A Florida GOP State Senator has proposed a bill that would officially abolish the state's Democratic Party, NBC reports.

Sen. Blaise Ingoglia filed "The Ultimate Cancel Act," which according to the Tallahassee Democrat, "never mentions the word Democrat or Democratic, but would decertify any political party that ever included a plank to support slavery in its platform, something the Democratic Party did between 1844 - 1864."

ORLANDO, Fla. — The families of two of the victims in last week’s shooting in Pine Hills criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis and U.S. Sen. Attorney Mark NeJame, who represents the families of Spectrum News 13 reporter Dylan Lyons and 9-year-old T’Yonna Major, read a statement to reporters Thursday blasting both Republicans after they sent letters criticizing Orange-Osceola State Attorney Monique Worrell for not prosecuting Keith Moses, the alleged killer, for misdemeanor ...

'It’s a cult': Bill Maher predicts Trump’s 'very hardcore following' will give him the 2024 nomination

Fox News' Rupert Murdoch, the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro and firebrand author Ann Coulter are among the right-wing Republicans who have been pushing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as an alternative to Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential primary. Coulter has been insisting that Trump’s base of support within the GOP is wildly exaggerated and that Trump is "done" and "over" among Republicans. As Coulter sees it, DeSantis should have no problem defeating Trump in the primary if he runs for president.

But political comedian Bill Maher, who hosts "Real Time" on HBO, is very skeptical about claims that the Republican Party is determined to move on from Trump. During a late February interview, Maher told CNN's Jake Tapper that the GOP is likely to give Trump the 2024 nomination.

Lincoln Project brutally mocks Ron DeSantis for wimping out of fighting Trump at CPAC

The ex-Republican group Lincoln Project is up with a new video ridiculing Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for pulling out of CPAC. The organization is facing a lot of backlash from Republicans after the chair of the group was accused of groping a male staffer on Herschel Walker's Senate campaign.

During the 2022 campaign, the Lincoln Project said that DeSantis ran an "SNL-worthy" commercial promoting his military service, saying he would never "back down from a fight." But that's exactly what's happening at CPAC this week.

Trump's GOP rivals will blow it again if they wait for him to 'defeat himself': conservative

Top MAGA Republican 'all but shunning' Trump as he hints at backing rival in 2024

A longtime ally of former President Donald Trump appears to be jumping ship, and is already hinting at backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in 2024 instead, POLITICO reported on Thursday.

"Rep. Thomas Massie was so eager for Donald Trump’s endorsement in a contested primary three years ago that he ran TV ads targeted at the then-president in Florida to win his support," reported Ally Mutnick and Sarah Ferris. "Today, Massie is all but shunning Trump and his comeback campaign. In fact, the Kentucky Republican attended a retreat last weekend for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis."

The state “where woke goes to die” may be equally inhospitable to right-wing media.

That’s according to Daily Beast columnist Anthony L. Fisher, who believes Fox News could become collateral damage of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ culture crusade.

Marjorie Taylor Greene's obsession with culture wars reflects her 'insecurity' as a parent: former GOP congressman

Former Rep. David Jolly (R-FL) tore into Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on MSNBC Wednesday, suggesting that her obsession with culture war issues around children is a sign of her own insecurity as a parent.

This comes as Greene, a far-right congresswoman known for embracing the QAnon conspiracy theory, continues to push her idea of a second secession crisis, or "national divorce," where Republican-controlled states could break off and create their own nation that, in her own words, would be a "safe space" from the Left.
